Henry Schmidt 23 died after a crash on Highway 80 near Lordsburg. He was found in his McNutt Ol truck and believed struck by a passing auto. a coroner’s jury ruled death by violent blow to the base of the brain. An auto party was questioned in Las Cruces and released. remains sent to El Paso for burial. He left a wife and child.

Sheriff John Cavins and City Marshal Felix Jones detained two alleged counterfeiters, Donald Edward Miller and Clay Cape, after counterfeit coins appeared in slot machines and were found at a local hotel and touring camp cottages.
