Petrified Forest Discovery Near Lordsburg Grows
Monday afternoon former mayor B B Ownby and companions drove 18 miles southeast of Lordsburg to study a petrified forest. They found large sections of petrified trees mixed with jasper, rock crystals, moon stones and other formations. Specimens are on exhibit at the Liberal office. The gray stone differs from Arizona’s typical reddish petrified wood. The area appears extensive along the mountain, with a good auto road to the site, likely to attract tourists and geologists.

Arbitration planned for Virden water ditches dispute

Death of Mrs Carstensen at 74 in Mountainview area
Mrs Dora Carstensen aged 74 died after a brief illness at her daughter Mrs PM Foley’s home. She was born in Germany in 1862 and came to America at 16. She leaves four children, including Mrs MFA Foley of Lordsburg, with two of her children predeceasing her. Burial followed in Mountainview cemetery with Rev. Williams officiating.
