Two local offices will close on Monday February 21 to honor Washington's Birthday. The First National Bank of Lordsburg and the U S Post Office will close while city and county offices remain open on the holiday.
A community driven Reward Fund in Lordsburg seeks tips leading to arrests for vandalism. Fund at First National Bank with $200 now and more donations requested via Lordsburg Liberal. Citizens may donate anonymously and information will be routed to authorities. payouts occur after police confirmation of conviction.
The Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce met at 7 30 PM to discuss youth employment expansion, finances with a balance of 648 27 and 3945 82 in separate accounts, and three new members Lordsburg Saddlery James Culberson and Bobbie's Jewelry. A $25 raise for John Robinson was approved as a nominating committee prepares officers, with plans for an Ice Show on March 31 and an April 29 banquet possibly featuring Tony Anaya.

An Animas man James Moorhead was killed in a one car crash at the intersection of Double Adobe Road and Central Highway in Double Adobe Arizona at 8 20 p m on Wednesday February 9 The Cochise County Sheriff's Department is investigating His daughter Eva Pursley was injured with broken bones and admitted to Cochise County Hospital as a passenger in the vehicle Moorhead is survived by two sons Thomas and Jim of Douglas two daughters Norma Pursley and Eva Pursley of Douglas a sister and seven grandchildren plus three step grandchildren Funeral services were arranged by Brown Page Mortuary in Douglas
The offices of Senator Domenici and Congressman Runyan said Lordsburg received a 26 065 federal matching grant. The city will match 12 500 and the state 13 565 for landscaping playgrounds and four park areas including ball fields.
