White to Run for DA in Sixth Judicial District
Deming attorney Anthony White announces his candidacy for District Attorney of the Sixth Judicial District. The 39 year old Democrat is a former felony prosecutor and criminal defense attorney with experience in Las Cruces Grant Luna and Hidalgo counties. He is a 1984 University of New Mexico School of Law graduate and has worked in private practice and public defender roles.

80 Pounds Of Marijuana Confiscated At Border Checkpoint
A border checkpoint on highway 70 near Nine Mile Hill netted 80 pounds of marijuana. A 1984 Pontiac Fierro left the scene as the driver disposed of the marijuana. The adult Mexican national with US residence papers was captured near Gold Hill at 2 00 PM Monday. Multiple agencies assisted. the marijuana value is about 64320 dollars. The car and driver are with U S Custom Agents in Deming.
