The newly organized Tenna Club met Monday February 3 at Miss Mary Lou Brown's home. Dinner was served to members Miss Keryl Hill Miss Betty Bradford Miss Betty Ann Mosley Miss Eite Miss Barbara Snethen Miss Lucille Richins and the guest. Carolyn Romney was initiated into the club. After dinner the girls enjoyed an evening of sewing.
The W S C S of the Methodist Church hosts a baked ham supper in the undercroft from 6 00 to 8 30 p m Tickets are available from W S C S members or at the door The menu includes baked ham green beans sweet potatoes hot rolls and homemade pie
A regular Eastern Star meeting was held Tuesday evening at the Masonic Hall in Lordsburg. Mrs Ora Perkins of Deming Grand District Instructor made her official visit, accompanied by Roy Perkins her husband I Wilder and Mrs Mabbertwood Past Grand Matron of the State of New Mexico. A School of Induction and pot luck supper are planned at the Masonic Hall Tuesday February ? All members urged to be present.
The Training Union of the First Baptist Church invites members and friends to a Valentine Party tonight at 7:30 in the church annex. An old-time Valentine box will be present and each person should bring valentines.
The following readings for the U S Weather Bureau show daily high and low temperatures from Friday February 7 to Thursday February 13. Highs ranged from 60 to 70 degrees while lows fell from 27 to 34 degrees, with notable cool nights on February 12 and 13.
District 4 will use an elimination tourney in Deming February 21 and 22 to decide the eight teams in the final event at Las Cruces February 28 and March 1. Top seven teams are Las Cruces Silver City Lordsburg Deming Virden Hatch Hurley. Remaining eight teams include Alamogordo Animas Anthony Cliff Hachita Hot Springs Monticello and Tularosa. Drawings set for February 15 in Deming and February 22 in Las Cruces.

Lions Club members voted Tuesday to wire opposition to a New Mexico Senate bill. The measure would divert part of the teachers salary fund surplus under the two per cent tax to the general fund. Dr J H Baxter Glenn Dorsett and H H Bryant spoke during the impromptu program.

City Attorney E Forrest traveled to Washington to testify before a senate committee probing the Lordsburg Prisoner of War Camp sale. The panel reviews RFC resale to a private individual after Lordsburg bids were rejected. The camp cost over 1.8 million to build.
A bridal shower for Mrs. Ralph Dunlap nee Miss Rosalie Chaulk was hosted by Miss Rita Payne Miss Betty Lou George and Miss Marilyn Fairly at Miss Fairly s home on Saturday Feb 8. Spring flowers adorned the room with a lace tea table centerpiece. Tea coffee ribbon sandwiches mints nuts and iced heart shaped cakes were served by several hostesses. Many gifts were presented to the honoree.
On Monday February 17 at 8 p m the B Sharp Music Club will present a recital at the Methodist Church. Highlight is songs by the Lordsburg High School Glee Club directed by Westley Darkhuff. Also featured are brother and sister duets and readings with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln motifs. Public invited.
The Musgrove Chevrolet Company announces the 1947 Chevrolet with few changes from 1946. It will offer 11 models across Fleetline Fleetmaster and Stylemaster lines. The new showroom is nearly complete and open for business though some material delays slow progress. Mr. Musgrove invites Hidalgo County residents to visit the displays.
Freeman McWhorter president announced a Saturday meeting at the courthouse to determine plans for 1947. He urged a large turnout of business men to aid in mapping the year ahead, with the session starting promptly at 11 a.m.
Mr and Mrs Roy Kerr of Lordsburg announce the marriage of their daughter Geraldine to Zay B Smith son of Mr and Mrs J D Smith of Aztec New Mexico The couple wed Sunday January 26 at the Methodist Parsonage in Silver City Mrs Kerr is a Lordsburg High School class of 46 graduate and attended the University of New Mexico until marriage They plan to reside in Lordsburg
Miss Jackie Galusha observed her sixth birthday Sunday with a home celebration. A Valentine cuff was given, and ice cream cake and root beer were served to a group including Darwin Fife Carol Temple ton Janice Lehman Norton Leh man Janice Kerr Mike Tooley Ernestine Short Donna Lee Bry ant Jackie McGhee and the hostess. Moving pictures were shown in the afternoon.
The 1947 passenger and truck plates are on sale at the County Treasurer's office. Plates must be affixed to vehicles by March 1 with offices closing at 12 noon that day.
The Liberal of Lordsburg announces a new Excelsior face and black body type after a full rebuild of its machine. D E Bradley of Chrisman Illinois completed work including bearings and bushings to enable a first class state newspaper.
