Wagon Train Reaches Lordsburg Despite Cold Wind Storm
The Bicentennial Wagon Train arrives in Lordsburg on a cold cloudy afternoon with winds to 45 mph after traveling 65 miles in New Mexico since Rodeo’s Sunday arrival. Wagoneers, escorted by state police, were greeted with meals and a barbecue as locals watched from Railroad Avenue.

Florida Escapee Apprehended in New Mexico Transit Hub
Florida inmate Robert Massey was arrested by Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office on February 1 as he tried to board a bus at Lordsburg depot. Sheriff Gene Moore said a Jacksonville warrant led to the capture, and Massey was handed to Florida authorities on February 5 for extradition.
