The State Engineer of New Mexico extends the Mimbres Underground Water Basin boundaries in Grant and Luna Counties. Unidentified Body Found Near Railroad Tracks
The partially burned body of a man about 55 to 59 years old was found north of the railroad tracks near the west city limits Monday at 6 50 p m by railroad employee Manuel S Ramirez. Sheriff Leroy McCarty sent fingerprints to the FBI for identification. The man is described as six feet tall, 145 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. He likely burned when his clothes ignited beside a bonfire. Albert Valdez of Danny's Truck Stop reported a large bonfire nearby around 4 a m Friday February 6 with several men present.
