Lordsburg Rifle and Pistol Club Formed With 35 Members
The Lordsburg Rifle and Pistol Club held its organizational meeting February 3 at City Hall with 35 attendees. Officers were elected: J Eldon Taylor president, Leo Cohen vice president, Walter Blake treasurer, George Eddy secretary, Joe Moore chief instructor, and Percy Brown executive officer. Dues are $6 annually, and affiliation with the National Rifle Association will provide rifles and ammunition for members. Membership open to both men and women. future matches with nearby towns planned after range setup.

District Basketball Tournament Plans Announced
Roy Melugin announced plans for the district tournament to be held in Las Cruces from February 24 to 26 at the New Mexico A and M gym. Play starts at 4 p.m. on the 24th and the championship is scheduled for 9 p.m. on the final night. The district now has 16 members with Cloudcroft newly admitted, and participating teams include Lordsburg Virden Cliff Silver City Hurley Deming Animas Hachita Las Cruces Anthony Alamogordo Hatch Hot Springs Monticello and Tuleraosa.

Cub Scouts began National Boy Scout week with church services at Methodist and Catholic churches. An exhibit of their projects runs at the old Community Public Service Company offices. A Monday banquet at the High School, addressed by Alton Powell, with German Band entertainment, drew 125 attendees. Dens will visit local industries in Lordsburg Saturday.
