In the February Southern Pacific Bulletin Wm. Wilson, superintendent of the Tucson Division, recounts early railway development from Apache dominion to the Lordsburg era. He notes Geronimo’s surrender, railroad routes from Wilcox to Lordsburg, crossing the Continental Divide, and 1906 quarry ballast improvements.
The Woman's Club met at Mrs. H. M. Chase's home on Monday the 7th for service culture and entertainment. New members were welcomed, and papers on cooperation cheerfulness and loyalty were read, followed by a reading Ten ways a kill a Club.
Deputy revenue collector Theede will be in Lordsburg on Thursday and Friday February 10 and 11 to explain income tax details. He plans to leave for Silver City on Friday at noon via stage.
In 1914 the Dome pit opened and rock ballast was laid on the Yuma to Tartron line. Slag from Sasco and Fl Paso smelters reinforced ballast from Benson to Vail and Strauss to Quincy as the main Tucson Division mileage nears completion. Mining and stock raising drive Arizona and New Mexico economies with copper silver gold and cattle.

They foresee purchasing or leasing large tracts as Mexico begins a stable government. Dewey Cox buys Bank Barber Shop in Hachita from Grant Gaither.

Letter from B C Monroe praises Hidalgo County prospects as a safe oil field near the Valley while expressing interest in Edwards and Valverde Texas leases and a large tract near Fordorado Arkansas. The sender plans to acquire leases and suggests sea level wells could tap major pools.
Mrs. Robert M. Reynolds hosted a 20 woman luncheon for Mrs. E. T. Wells, honoring her who was married yesterday afternoon at her home. An elaborate luncheon was served in keeping with the occasion.

Karl I Mohler of the GC. & A. Mining Go informs that the company will push development work for the time being and will ship ores from work already in progress. The development push is seen as encouraging amid broader mining cutbacks.
Pyramid Lodge No. 23 of the Knights of Pythias will attend the 68th anniversary celebration in Deming on February 19. A committee led by George W. Hanner BLO Ownby and L. P. McHaffey will arrange transportation for members.
The Co operative mining company grades a road to the plant to ease haulage and improves the mill with a steam hoist. Mr Walters leads the push as work advances. Hildahl plans to cut Reservation lead in days, currently at about 70 feet. Independent mine to complete new houses, sickness delays others. James and Mrs Craig drove to Lordsburg. Chas Pence takes a hoisting engineer post at the Co operative.
W. P. McLeod son of Mr and Mrs J H W McLeod arrived from Birmingham Alabama this week. He served with Troop H of the 3rd Cavalry and during a German attack his horse was shot from under him, leaving him with a wounded leg. He plans to make Lordsburg his home where he is welcomed.
Robt Kirchman manager of the Silver Spot mine visited this week. Development will start on the Spot property to drive the No. 4 shaft to 150 feet deeper to reach the Chloride Flat silver deposits. Encouraging silver findings and manganese exposure suggest plans may succeed. shipments await favorable market conditions and a freight rate reduction promised by the Santa Fe railroad.
The W H M S musicale at the Ball home in Lordsburg drew a large audience. Local residents Mrs Claude Butler Mr Sidney Puller Mosd Crowell and others performed with Mary Crowell and Mrs Ball as host and organizer. Refreshments followed and the event raised forty five dollars for the society fund.
The county clerk and Mrs Robert M Reynolds hosted a Sunday ceremony at their home in Lordsburg as Miss Elizabeth Reynolds wed Mr BT Wells from Illinois. Guests included Miss Mabel Brown Miss Nina Roberts and others with best man L A Kimbrough maid of honor Miss M Bell ingham and a four course luncheon followed by singing.

Mr. L. T. Boyd returned from Santa Fe after arguing a motion to dismiss a suit brought by West Virginia parties against him and the Montefico Mining company. Judge Neblett dismissed the case at complainants' costs, ending a four year dispute over control of the Monte Rito Company. The appellate court previously ruled in favor of the Boyd interest. The final dismissal affirms the company's legality and operations.
