On February first the Co-Operative miners hit another rich silver vein on the north side of the shaft. The ore is extremely rich, prompting canvas to be spread to catch falling rock as values are not yet determined. This marks a strong start to the New Year.
At the Missionary Tea held Friday February second at Mrs Roy Peak's home a program featured vocal solo Florence Cureton reading by Florence Cureton piano bolo by Mrs Richardson duet piano and violin Baby and Pearl Peak piano duet by Mrs Claud Puller and Grace Conner reading by Mrs Syday. The community honors Ada Harber Heather who died after a long illness. A Methodist service led by Rev. W H Vanderpool featured Pythian Sisters and pallbearers including Mayor E K Fisher and John B Crowell. She leaves a husband Jack Heather and two children Harker and Dora Ellen. Burial followed in Los Angeles.
Judge Edwin Mechem brother of the governor presided in chambers this week disposing of one divorce case and handling minor matters. Attending attorneys were H. B. Holt and F. W. Vellecott, with court stenographer Miss Parker present.
The Woman's Club has postponed the regular meeting and will convene at Mrs. M. M. Crocker's home on Monday, the 12th. Cor. See.
The First National Bank now handles the insurance bonding and renting division that Morningstar and Augustine previously ran and takes over Stanley W. Coon's insurance business. Coon becomes manager of the Duncan Mercantile Company as the bank becomes the town’s sole insurance, bonding, and leasing agency with strong management.
A winter miscel laneous shower for Mrs. Clarence F. Downing at Mrs. W. J. Cline’s home featured a travel party game with five tables representing cities. Guests presented luggage, linen, china, glassware and a six month subscription to The Liberal, and a surprise lunch followed.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Elfe hosted a turkey dinner for the Acmes on Saturday afternoon. The two turkeys named Acme and Max traveled from a ranch and proved delicious. dancing followed for those who recovered while others enjoyed the social gathering.
Supt. Brown of the Pacific Mutual Railroad Department of Insurance visited last week and credited Foreman Olson of the round house with a neat and tidy yard. The praise was widely noticed as a mark of Olson’s good work.
John C. O Leary owner of the Big gest Little Store in Deming and guide for auto tourists through Lordsburg has joined the Amoli boosters. He promotes Amoli as the best hair and scalp remedy in the world and says what he gets back in Deming goes. He is praised as a clever Southwest advertiser.
Chas Schoepf of Schoepf Motor Co Deming delivered Saturday afternoon to J B Allen the latest model Dodge coupe with heating and door locks. The upholstering is very attractive.
The editor noted a trunk ship pedal entering from abroad this week that could have been bought locally for 83 less excluding transportation.

Mrs Banks Austins Sunday School class holds a pie sale at the drug store this Saturday afternoon February 10 beginning at oclock. Proceeds support the class activities.
Announcement by the Treasury Department states Deputy Collector A.8. Roberts will be at the Hollen hotel in Lordsburg on March 5 and 6 to help taxpayers prepare their 1922 year returns.

Eleanor Long Jackson, born February 27 1902, dies February 4 1923. A devoted wife and mother, she united with the Christian church, known for kindness and faith. Her funeral at the Christian church was led by Pastor W L Dalton with Eastern Star rites and pallbearers from the Masonic fraternity.
