Heather Chase Named to City School Board

Harber J. Heather was elected to the Lordsburg Board of Education and Peter M. Chase was re elected as voters cast ballots for four candidates. Chase led with 125 votes, Heather 122, R. K. George 112,Richard B. Rice 91. A total of 226 votes were cast with two ballots for a single candidate.

The Office of Temporary Controls announced a 10 pound sugar allocation for households on April 1 using a single stamp. There will be no home canning sugar allotment this year. Stamp 25, valid for 5 pounds, expires at midnight March 31.

Local Polio Fund Contributors Named for Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County reported contributions totaling 1119.12 to the March of Dimes. Lists include Palace Theatre 200, Birthday Cake Sales 85.60, School Card 100.17, Animal collections 49.45, and many individuals and small donors. The balance came from two dances with Mrs. A A Richards and companions running the booth.

City Council Tightens Liquor Gambling Rules and Parking Edict

The council warned bars to comply with state liquor laws and curb gambling with potential license cancellations.
