Freedom Train refuels halt at Lordsburg station

The American Freedom Train stopped for about one hour at Lordsburg on Monday to refuel, drawing schoolchildren to view the train as it traveled coast to coast. After Lordsburg, the train headed to Albuquerque for three days before continuing its nationwide tour.

Plans Finalized For Arrival Of Bicentennial Wagon Train

Plans finalized for the Bicentennial Wagon Train arrival in Lordsburg on February 10th with about 80 riders. Bureau of Land Management official Kirby Kline and Arizona border to Hatch wagon train chief Nelson Tobey met Hidalgo County Bicentennial Committee co chair Ena Mitchell to report final arrangements. Riders must present a veterinarian certificate, negative Coggins, specific vaccines, and flu shots. horses require tharium treated shoes and leather pads with changes every 30 days.

Philip R. Sanders seeks Hidalgo County District III seat

Philip R. Sanders a Democrat living 12 miles east of Animas announced candidacy for Hidalgo County Commission District III. He moved from Seligman Arizona five years ago and has worked for Boquillas Cattle Company and Phelps Dodge Corporation serving as security chief at the Playas plant. Sanders aims to improve county representation and expand youth recreation county wide.
