Col Alfred L Moudy of Waterloo will speak Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church on the topic of Prohibition and Law Enforcement. He is a longtime educator and World War II veteran who has delivered more than 2,000 lectures to schools, colleges, churches and civic groups.
Legible fragments report Leslie Lee of Animas, deputy game warden, operated in a medical crisis Sunday night at a hospital in Texas. Austin and doctors monitor his condition as he slowly improves.
Mrs Cilen Ross attended the ednessday bridge club this week with KH B Movens hosting. Miss Mary Elizabeth Welly and Margaret Holt joined as guests at the Lyman W Heason home Tuesday evening for a social gathering.
Mrs Ed Lewis hosts a Tuesday evening gathering for the N. and I. Chub club. Guests include Mrs. B. M. Laickie, Mrs. J. Allen, C Fuller, Walter Boswell, George Trimble, Geo B. Jetta, S. M. Chase, and others as list follows.
Mrs Felix Jones entertained the W M U of the Baptist Church on a Wednesday afternoon. Refreshments were served to ladies including Chas Pence Samuelates Marvin Pierce Sidney Pallereon and OsLess. A devotional lesson focused on Chapter 16 of the book of Ezra. The study for February 4th centered on that book.
The annual report shows poultry production remains a key farm enterprise with activity in every county. Accreditations rose from 1 738 birds in five flocks in 1927 to 25 220 birds in 199 flocks this year. Housing, feeding, culling and breeding programs expanded with 218 houses rebuilt or built and 443 farmers guided to hatch chicks for fall production.
V J Goel of Western Gas company El Paso obtained a county franchise to build a line from Deming junction south of Lordsburg across the county to Douglas and Bisbee. Construction is under way with funds. another line to Lordsburg Globe district expected, timing uncertain. Milton Thomason managing right of way from Lordsburg.

At the county meeting the extension agent Lyman W. Gleason was to be temporarily relieved from duties. The final relief time will depend on guidance from the attorney general's office regarding contract expiration. County budget constraints are cited by Chairman Tom Pendleton.
Hidalgo County superintendent of schools Mrs. Olivia M. Wells and board member Mrs. N. W. McCluskey joined State Educational gathering in Santa Fe last Saturday as guests of House Speaker Alvan N. White and Mrs. White. The pair attended Senate and House sessions and returned home Tuesday, Mrs. Wells to Lordsburg and Mrs. McCluskey to Animas.
Word from Bar on J. VV. Auriemma says Baron Al Riemma will arrive in Lordsburg next Thursday for his annual Salvation Army visit. The Baron is currently in Silver City this week.
The County Commissioners decide to lay off Ed Rhodes, the county road supervisor, citing no special work before July 1 and lack of funds.
Mrs. George Keime entertained a trio of bridge tables Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Roy H. Evans won consolation, Mrs. W. Graham was second high, and Miss Lou Johnson claimed top score. Guests included Miss Lou Johnson Ima Fairs and Mesdames Elbert Jones Jack Heather Roy Evans K J Short Join Augustine Bill Graham N A Gammon W A Short Richard Jatsch.

Judge Geo. W. Hay and former judge Carl P. Duniton met in town on Wednesday for their weekly visit. Hay noted very little court business, seen as a favorable sign for the community. District Attorney W. B. Walton also visited Monday to confer with the county commissioners.
H H Conder will occupy the McWhorter building near First National Bank after alterations. He plans a larger jewelry shop with an optical department and Kodak developing area, plus upstairs bachelor quarters, to open in about six weeks under contractor Richard Tatech.
Antonio Thosales of Valedon and Comme Moneallo of Lordsburg were injured at the mine and admitted to Lordsburg Hospital last Friday morning. Thosales left the hospital a few hours later while Moneallo remained under care. JL and Lee of Animas underwent a major operation Sunday night. Mise B B Cook of El Paso is on private night duty and Mise Lou Johnson on private day duty, both doing nicely. Mrs HK I McDonald of Valedon underwent a major operation Monday. Cordelia Robertson of Hachita and Ben Robertson of Hachita are hospitalized for medical treatment. Handle of Duncan had tonsils removed Tuesday.
The Church of Christ invites all to attend Sunday services featuring Dr. W L Martin. A Sunday night sermon on the second coming of Christ follows earlier blessings from sessions that have strengthened the church. Services include worship at 10:00 and evangelist service at 7:90 with Bible School Conference next Wednesday night.
Mr and Mrs A J Balmforth returned Tuesday from Bisbee Arizona where they spent a couple of weeks.
Mrs. A Reddus of Willcox Arizona arrives Sunday to spend a few days with her daughter Mrs 3S Jack Heather.
Several Lordsburg youngsters fall ill with measles. Names listed include Dickie Allen Mary Jane Egan Jackie Heather and Dickie Fedrick in a local health notice.
Mrs. Sam P. Fulton of Deming returns home Wednesday with her husband after two weeks with her sister Margaret Holt and their father W. Holt. The couple had driven over from the eastern part of the state.
The W M A of the Baptist church met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Chas Pence. Refreshments were served to Mesdames EK S Christian, Felix Jones, Frank Corbell, Frank Sikes and H Gass.
Louise McDonald departed Thursday for Little Rock Arkansas to attend school.
James Love Fedrick is reported to be recovering nicely after a severe pneumonia attack. Medical staff at the hospital say his progress is steady and he responds to treatment.
The bungalow owned by D. B. Pon and occupied by Richard Tatsch and wife on East Seventh Street is being remodeled and repainted by local contractor Richard Tatsch. Mrs. R. K. McDonald and son Raymond Castle have left for Little Rock Arkansas for an indefinite stay with relatives.
The Phelps Dodge private Pullman stayed parked for several days over the weekend. Walter Douglas toured ranch properties in Arizona while Mrs. Dodge and her husband enjoyed the unbroken sunshine. Mrs. Dodge said they like to linger in the pleasant weather.
At Monday's core meeting a bridge committee of Jack Heather Ira Conner and W A Short was appointed to find ways and means to place a bridge across the arroyo now blocked by the seventh street bridge closure. The bridge is urgent as the highway serves east-side residences an airport and the county highway to Anim as.
Little Mary Joe McWhorter, who recently had her tonsils removed, was taken to Mimbres Hot Springs for treatment and is recovering nicely.

John T. Murphy field chief of the General Land Office visited Lordsburg on Wednesday en route to Phoenix. He praised the town’s progress and improvements since his last visit, noting the very wet but productive conditions.

Funeral services for J Wood Walker are set for today at 4 PM from Heilly Undertaking parlors with Grace Episcopal Church involvement and the Locomotive Engineers Brotherhood in charge at the grave. Born February 7 1904 in Orange Virginia he served 40 years as an engineer with the Southern Pacific and leaves a widow a son a granddaughter and several siblings and in laws visiting from New Mexico California and Virginia. Walker to be buried at Evergreen Cemetery beside his brother with relatives and friends in attendance.
The regular monthly meeting of the Commissioner's court last Monday approved Dr. C B Austin to continue as county health officer, a post he has held with credit for several years.
On Thursday January 2 the Easters Star organized the Flecta Circle at Mrs Keime home. Mrs Keime elected president, Mrs Brooks treasurer, and Mrs Thane secretary. Next meeting set for Mrs Augustine home on February 26 at three o clock.
The Lions Club held a charter night in the church basement with a banquet hosted by the Woman's Club. Attendees included district governor C. B. Beyer of New Mexico Liotta and visiting Lions from Silver City, Douglas, Safford, and delegations from Leasing, Degas, and other areas. The event featured remarks by local officers, entertainment committees, a formal menu, and thanks to C. A. Slater for kitchen duties.
Heather hosted a January bridge gathering with three tables. Miss Low Johnson announced scores for the afternoon while Myra Allen earned second high. Oscar Allen received consolation, and refreshments followed for attendees including Evan, J Short, Owear Allen, and others.
Maurice Eppstein and Wilbur Wilkerson attended a Friday baseball game between Silver City and Deming. Silver City won the contest with the final score in their favor.
A dated February 4 1951 letter from Jesse T Smith refutes rumors about naming candidates for a school board ticket. He states he named no one and expects no promises. He expresses gratitude for cooperation as superintendent and says he does not seek the Lordsburg superintendent position. He urges citizens to exercise rights and continue goodwill.
