Two incumbents Henry Alvarez and Mar Louise Moralez were unseated in Lordsburg in a county race with A.M. Elicio beating Alvarez 371 to 335. James Culberson won position two with 404 votes over Sal Diaz Jr. Animas voters chose Don Burton over Houston Moore and Patricia Everhart, tallying 149 100 and 56 respectively. Final unofficial results await canvass.

All That Remains Car Crash Claims Silver City Youth
An 18 year old Silver City youth, Leonard Medina, died after a one car crash on 9 Mile Hill near Lordsburg on the Duncan Highway Saturday afternoon. Four others were injured and treated on scene before transfers to Silver City and El Paso. investigators continued the probe.

Mobile Home Destroyed by Fire on E Street
A mobile home owned by Elaterio Moreno on E Street was destroyed by a noon Saturday fire of unknown origin. A Southwest wind fueled the blaze, but Lordsburg firefighters and city police acted quickly, preventing the bus and moving a nearby truck from ignition while the blaze was halted.

Deming representative Crawford testified before the House Appropriation and Finance committee on behalf of builders in Grant Luna and Hidalgo counties seeking more state inspectors. He noted the Construction Industries Commission must provide outside city limits inspectors and that Las Cruces inspector John Ring is overextended. He said builders pay fees and expect timely inspections, not delays or telephone approvals, and urged reallocating 100000 annually from the commission to hire additional inspectors.
