Report shows the Annual March of Dimes Drive raising about 1800 to 2500 dollars with 200 of 350 envelopes returned. Contributions come from Erade schools H xcschool Mothers Theater and local events totaling around 359 dollars so far, with more envelopes and receipts pending in the community.
Parents invited to bring infants and preschool children to the Health Department on Wednesday February 9 for a Well Child Clinic focused on immunizations. The event aims to protect children from communicable diseases noted as Piha Whoopint-coush and Smaz.
High School students raise 418.81 in a self contained Hatilgo County march of dimes drive. Bob Williams, president of Lordsburg High School Student Council, hands the donation to H H Bryant, chairman, as Arvel Goodman looks on. The drive included a ceremony where a crutch bound doll was given to a sick child, symbolizing the fundraising success and community pride.
State Police promote Patrolman Richard McCool to Lordsburg district under Chief Joe Roach. He will assist Patrolman Neil Moore and comes from Grants after two and a half years there. McCool served in Santa Fe headquarters 1946 1951 and WWII as a sergeant. He is married to Betty and plans to relocate once a house is found.
Mrs. Jack Morgan hosted the Sewing Club on Wednesday evening with refreshments for Olive Ann Robertson Opal Allen Carol Tyler Alice Noce and Louise McGhee.
Roberta Corbell of Lordsburg was selected to represent the town as Sun Princess at the Southwestern Sun Carnival in El Paso, December 27 to January 2. The letter notes her active participation in all events and the pride of her Chamber of Commerce.
In Lordsburg District No. 1 on Tuesday February 1 Raymundo Saucedo won the six year term on the Board of Education by 17 votes. He received 268 votes to Al vin Parker’s 251. Mrs S H Gass had one vote and eight ballots were spoiled.
The Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce and County Extension Service invite farmers and families to a free dinner and a style review on February 7 at Elk's Hall and Coronado Theatre. Guest Ivan Woods, irrigation expert, will speak. Marguerite Codding notes public invitation.
The 3,660,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorers and leaders will mark the Boy Scouts of America 45th anniversary February 6 through 12 with the theme Building for a Better Tomorrow. It is described as the largest annual youth observance. Continued on Page 6.
On Monday February 28 the Woman's Club will sponsor an art exhibit and a book review at the club house. All local artists are invited to participate. Mrs. A W Marshall of Deming will be guest reviewer. More information will be published later.
