He noted boosters for diphtheria-tetanus every five years and smallpox every five years, with travel requiring proof within three years. William Gibson dies at 70 in Arizona Veterans Hospital
William Dee Gibson 70 longtime Animas resident died January 28 at the Veterans Hospital in Ft. Whipple Arizona. Born September 14, 1896 in Strawn Texas he lived in New Mexico most of his life. Survived by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services held in Prescott at 2 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Mertice Brooks Named Probate Judge
Mrs. Mertice Brooks was appointed Probate Judge by the Hidalgo County Board of Commissioners to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her husband M Homer Brooks. The term runs from January 1 1967 to December 31 1968. Brooks fell ill after taking the oath and died January 24.

Ownby Award KP Golden Spur Conferred at Pythian Hall
In a ceremony at Pythian Hall on January 31 Knight R. B Ownby received the Golden Spur for extraordinary service to his lodge the Knights of Pythias and fellow men. He joined in 1904 rose to Grand Chancelor of New Mexico 1932 34 served Pyramid Lodge No 23 as financial secretary 25 years and earned a 50 year pin in 1954 with 63 years of active membership. He urged starting early in life and staying with fraternal work.

Paso Natural Gas Proposes Rate Cut Across Multiple States
El Paso Natural Gas Company filed with the Federal Power Commission to cut rates by about 9.6 million annually from January 1. Chairman Howard Boyd cited efficiencies and a southern California gas project plus accelerated depreciation as factors, with 1.4 million in four states and the rest in California. A separate Northwest Division cut of about 2.5 million per year was also proposed.

Eighth Grade Dogies Triumph Over San Simon
The eighth grade Dogies defeated San Simon 58 to 53 on January 28 at San Simon. They led 38-22 at halftime after outscoring their opponent by five in each of the first two quarters. Judy Ramirez led the Dogies with 234 points, followed by Felipe Martinez with 12 and Hermilo Guzman with 10.
