Three Men Jailed On Burglary Charges
Three men were charged with breaking into two local businesses on the night of January 26. Art's Garage on Highway 70 north of the underpass suffered a break in with a 45 caliber pistol, three used tires, and other items stolen. Stevenson’s Conoco Service Station on Highway 70 80 east of town was entered the same night with glass forced from a door. a cigarette and grocery theft occurred with a check book taken from the attached store. Police tracked the trio after a tinted tail light led to their stop in Clint, Texas, where officers found blood, the pistol, a check book, and an extra tire. Two suspects Wilson and Williams pleaded guilty and await district court action under $2,500 bonds. Garner pleads not guilty with hearing set February 10 and same bond. A separate report notes the W. F. Ritter Lumber Co was burglarized January 29 with a portable electric saw and a food grinder stolen through a southwest door.

Twelve Lordsburg High School students joined 900 from 60 schools at the All-State Music Festival in Albuquerque. After three days of rehearsals under their directors, a joint concert featuring the all-state clinic band concert band chorus and symphony orchestra was held in Johnson Gym before about five thousand fans. Sponsors provided transportation for the Lordsburg group.

Mothers March Raises 241 Dollars in County Drive
Mrs. Cecelia Gandara chaired the Mothers March with workers canvassing in the city. Tuesday night funds totaled 241.27 with more to come. Harbert Heather Hidalgo County chairman and Victor Reay counted the money. Robert Swan Unit provided coffee and doughnuts for volunteers.

The Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce will hold open house in its new offices next to the post office on February 6 and 7.
