The Lions Club enjoyed lively attendance Tuesday noon as John T. Muir spoke on early regional history. Attendees discussed placing markers and preparing a special edition to recount local historic sites from Shakespeare to Shakespearean trails and mining era figures.
The Church of Christ under Minister J. J. Brimberry presents a Christmas Eve play and children's exercises with treats on December 24. Christmas Day 11 a.m. sermon with music followed by a 7:30 p.m. Christmas Cantata directed by Mr. Mearns.
The Idalgo County 4-H scene features Animas and Neblett clubs presenting demonstrations on health, beauty, and project work. Isabel Arrambula wins blue for clothing, Nel Tyler earns two gold medals, and Wilson School hosts twenty club members aiming for full completion. The 4-H orchestra practices improve under Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Cox, with fundraising for the White Elephant Sale pending.

An attesting witness affixes official seal confirming the document.
Miss Mary Josephine DeMoss and her brother Edwin return from Stanford University to spend Christmas with their parents Dr. and Mrs. FE C De Moss Eddie. They plan to make a good record in athletics and are on the basketball squad. They will return to Stanford on January 2.
A church announces 0:45 a m service and an 11 a m worship with the sermon titled The Heart of Christ ianity. The period setting emphasizes devotion and daily prayer within the congregation.
The Cloverdale Valley View Rodeo clubs met for an all day session with pot luck dinners and Christmas ideas shared. They discussed Modern Psychology chapters and planned continued study and new consumer buying initiatives alongside Home Improvement projects.
Eight little tots gathered Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith to mark their first birthday. A Christman tree, cookies, and refreshments at 4 30 framed the party with mothers present and baby portraits taken for keepsake. George P. Jeffus, Mrs. Leon Brock, Mrs. Ray Childers and Mrs. Vouline Waxter were en route to El Paso when another car swerved into their lane near the Cambray underpass. The vehicle overturned several times, total wreck, with Mrs. Brock breaking a collarbone, Baxter spraining his back, others bruised. ambulances transported the injured to Deming.
Rev. William E. Brown D D assume role as Presiding Elder of the New Mexico Methodist Conference after a Saturday visit. He met with Rev. Bryan Hall and was accompanied by Rev. Joe B. Sermehire, Conference Director of Christian Education.
Lion Holt visits El Paso for Christmas with his daughter Mrs. Sam P. Fulton and husband He plans to attend the Lions ladies night and will deliver a brief address on the Solar Radiation Observatory north of Lordsburg.
The Maverick basketball squad aims to break its win drought with three games ahead. Morenes high school visits Tuesday, Douglas hosts Thursday, and El Paso high school plays Friday here. Coach Pierce reshuffles the lineup as Sanches shows improvement and forwards Betrada and Cureton vie for starting roles.
Local jeweler H. H. Conder unveils a plan to grow a large diamond from a small stone through successive stages. The Grow A Diamond club gains members as Conder promotes investing in a small diamond and watching it grow, with weekly deposits while wearing the ring. Diamond prices are expected to rise, he says, and his store displays a broad collection of diamond rings.
Ruth Fisher daughter of Mr and Mrs EB M Pisher and a University of New Mexico senior in Albuquerque is chosen to represent Lordabury as Sun Princess at the Sun Carnival in El Paso.
Lordsburg plans to illuminate Railroad Avenue as a modern lighting project. Officials say 22 foot pole lights with waterproof cable will light the street and side streets at 100 foot intervals. City and Chamber of Commerce back the project with WPA support and local property owners contributing.
Superintendent announces three original one act plays for Wednesday December 28 at Virden High School. The lineup includes Littl Brown Mule by Grant Pace, Double Wedding by Joe Jeb Ktvhaneen, and The Family Up tare by Adelma Payne. Directed and presented by students. supervision by Min Tenney.
Reports say several cars were looted Tuesday night, prompting a sheriff investigation that led to two transient youths, Den Melative aged 20 and IL Huser aged 14, being detained on route home from California to Geary Oklahoma. They had loot including radiator caps gas tank caps tools a briefcase and other items. They are held in Hidalgo county jail awaiting action by the District Attorney as fingerprints are sent to the Department of Justice for investigation.
Miss Margaret Holt traveled through Lordsburg en route to Chicago to visit sister Mire and husband W. A. Hunt. She planned a Detroit leg to see sister Mia and family F. C. McParlane.
Inclement weather moved the annual Christmas gathering to Mrs A L Green's home Tuesday with assistants Mrs Nellie Holiday and Mrs Charles Fuller. A four course luncheon preceded gift opening and many thoughtful favors made by Mrs George Trimble were shared. Mr and Mrs Howard Lunt welcome a seven pound daughter named Hope Myrna Lunt born Tuesday December 20 at Lordsbury Hospital. The newborn joins the family in a joyful home.
Mrs Walton Conrad and her young daughter Joyce Annette travel from Yuma Arizona to stay with relatives in town and in Animas for Christmas holidays.
The Wednesday Sewing Club met at Mrs. L L E B Robinson's home with co hosts Mrs Donald Johnson Mrs Maurice Conner and Mrs L B Robin. After a one o'clock luncheon gifts were exchanged and Mrs Maurice Conner received handkerchiefs as a farewell present. Other guests included Mesdames P V Chase Bryan Hall Freeman McWhorter Crawford Mearns J Cloyd Miller Robert Pierce J R Poindexter Thomas R Taggart and Miss Ima Fairly.
