The Lions Club enjoyed lively attendance Tuesday noon as John T. Muir spoke on early regional history. Attendees discussed placing markers and preparing a special edition to recount local historic sites from Shakespeare to Shakespearean trails and mining era figures.

Christmas Exercises at Church of Christ

DeMoss siblings visit home from Stanford for holidays

Accident near Cambray injures four in Jeffus car

George P. Jeffus, Mrs. Leon Brock, Mrs. Ray Childers and Mrs. Vouline Waxter were en route to El Paso when another car swerved into their lane near the Cambray underpass. The vehicle overturned several times, total wreck, with Mrs. Brock breaking a collarbone, Baxter spraining his back, others bruised. ambulances transported the injured to Deming.

Lordsburg plans to illuminate Railroad Avenue as a modern lighting project. Officials say 22 foot pole lights with waterproof cable will light the street and side streets at 100 foot intervals. City and Chamber of Commerce back the project with WPA support and local property owners contributing.

Youths cited in string of car looting

Reports say several cars were looted Tuesday night, prompting a sheriff investigation that led to two transient youths, Den Melative aged 20 and IL Huser aged 14, being detained on route home from California to Geary Oklahoma. They had loot including radiator caps gas tank caps tools a briefcase and other items. They are held in Hidalgo county jail awaiting action by the District Attorney as fingerprints are sent to the Department of Justice for investigation.
