The White Signal district in Grant county yields radium bearing ore raising hopes for a medical use. Explorers face separation challenges. advocates see potential for therapeutic water uses and ore-based treatments that could turn White Signal into a premier health resort.
The regular meeting at the High School Auditorium approved a $10 donation to New Mexico Child's Welfare Service. Highlights included musical numbers, a talk by Commissioner J H Phitepatrick on the value of education, and Attor ney A W Morningstar discussing American illiteracy and future reforms.
Mrs Sylvia Chase Bush and Miss Ruth Chase arrived quietly from Long Beach to surprise the Chase home. Miss Eunice Williams flew in from Fort Worth where she attends Texas Woman's College and was warmly welcomed at the Methodist Parsonage. Misses Cecelia and Arabella Jones came from San Antonio where they attend the C A W and enjoy time at the L Kh Jones residence.
Former paymaster at the 85 mine Judge M. N. Erlenbach left Tuesday for a brief visit to California and will then assume new duties in Pecos Texas as chief office man for the Electric Light and Power Co. He told friends he was sorry to part and would remember them fondly.

Mrs John Freeman visits during Christmas with her daughter Mrs Norris of Hachita. Miss Orthofer returns home for the holidays.
Lordsburg romped Tyrone on the basketball court yesterday afternoon winning 10 to 1. The boys team was the only contestant.
Mrs Brown and two little daughters Charlene and Bethel arrived from Kansas City and joined the A P Warner home at the 85 mine. Brown succeeds Judge M N Erlenbach as paymaster, and letters request more like them for Mr K C.
Dec 18 Jesse Robert Little of Santa Rita weds Lola Hackings of Canutilla Texas. Couple to spend four weeks in Vaughn. Dec 20 Walter Pekert wed Ethel Williams of Miami Arizona. Groom with Foster and Foster attorneys Miami.
A December 18 1920 letter from Albert B. Fall to Frank R. Coon notes joint House and Senate committees favor an emergency tariff bill to curb wool and mohair imports, aiming to protect livestock interests while providing government revenue. The message stresses quick enactment and contrasts with a wool embargo.
Mrs W C Downey hosted a Tuesday bridge club gathering and Marjorie Fairly marked her Tth birthday with a Saturday afternoon party. Assisting guests included Mrs J L Weiss Mrs J P Kerr Miss Helena Patton and Ima Fairly as well as a long list of local residents. Marjorie received many pretty gifts.
The Highway Garage and Trucking Co purchased a Fageol 5-6 ton truck that handles eight tons of ore from the Great Dagle Mine. Frank Free of Phoenix demonstrated the machine this week and W. J. Cline, who saw it in California, recommended it to the local agent H. G. & T. Co.
This week the Highway Garage adds A. E. Syes a blacksmith machinist and W. W. Welborn a Denver machinist. Mr Cline says they will keep bringing in experts until they have the finest crew in the state.
B. W. Randall presented an ear of white dent corn from a stock bought from W. F. Shriver at Virden. The ear measured 12 inches in length and had 18 perfect rows of kernels. This reflects the quality Shriver raises.
Pueblo announces J. H. Wagner of Santa Fe New Mexico state superintendent of schools has been elected to lead District No 1. He will assume the office January 1.
The North Side gains a new gray brick school building by Heather Construction Company. It features modern ventilation lighting and sanitary water systems approved by leading institutions and will relieve dangerous railroad crossing traffic by opening with the 1924 term.
Ordinance No. 26 licensing games of amusement is tested in Marsalis court with Frank Johnson's Owl Club as defendant. Judge Marsalis fines $50 and costs, $115 appeal bond. Village to prosecute each daily violation. Judge Ryan to hear on district court turn.
Directors hire veteran driller George Bumpus and Ben Burger to reexamine the halted Florida Oil Co well. The 1 3 45 feet depth reached before funds and tools ran out. crew expects a new hole could reach deeper depths within days. Casing from Angelus well is en route after delays, with drilling to restart using the standard rig next week.
Orran Tairly arrives home from the Normal College carrying a distinctive cedar bowl he carved himself, presenting the gift to his mother.
The Highway Garage and Trucking Company completes its organization with a Board of Trustees including FLPL Turner W J Cline N J Beott LT Beott and Ralph 8 Spann. Turner will run the trucking department Cline the mechanical division Montague purchasing Scott sales and J Scott Clifton head of the Clifton house. Lordsburg now sits on nine transcontinental auto highways and the firm aims to meet demand and resell Ford products for local and tourist trade.
A Baptist Convention orphanage in Portales NM appeals to all denominations to help needy children. The drive features street workers with tags reading I am a friend to the orphan next Friday before Christmas to raise funds nationwide.
United States District Judge Colin Neblett will travel to New York City in February to preside over a term of the federal district court there. The move follows the customary practice of exchanging districts among federal judges for a period, likely about a month.
