Chamber of Commerce boosts directorate and traffic growth

The Chamber of Commerce at the Hollen Hotel elected an expanded eleven member board led by A W Morningstar and G L Ross. The group touted a growth in tourist traffic driven by Pickwick shops and New Mexico oil paving while arranging outreach to Detroit Motor Club and Michigan visitors.

Mrs Buddy Brown returns from Salt Lake City after four months studying at the Utah High School of Beauty Culture. She is now in the Beauty Shop behind her husband's Barber Shop and offers her trained services to customers.

Lordsburg Made Universal Control Point Visit

Lt. B. G. Robbins of the U S Air Service who flew with Charles Lindbergh before the trans Atlantic flight visited Lordsburg with his family on Wednesday. He told the Chamber of Commerce that Lordsburg was designated a control point during his Washington trip.

R L Miller of Dering spent part of the week in the area, staying for several days and visiting local attractions and contacts.

Power Company Overhauls Switchboard at Local Plant

The Texas Louisiana Power Company completed a switchboard overhaul at the local power plant. M H Fuller chief electrician of Silver City led the team with Henry Simmons and Arthur Johnson from Silver City. The 200 horsepower De La Vergne engine was overhauled by Jimmie Richie and crew. The plant is kept as standby and maintained in ready condition for rapid service.

Arbelbide Brothers Featured in Papers

Lordsburg celebrates Garret and Ollie Arbelbide grandsons of Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Egan after they were pictured in action in the Los Angeles dailies Sunday Examiner. Ollie to enter the University next year while Garrett continues on the varsity football team.

Needle and Thimble Club Christmas Tree Fun

The Needle and Thimble Club celebrated with a Christmas tree at Mrs. A. L. Green’s Main Street home. Ladies brought gifts, drew numbers to match tree packages, and enjoyed sewing, visiting, and refreshments of Flapper salad, Christmas cake, and coffee. Guests included E. Allen, C. Fuller, E. Luckey, G. Trimble, W. Small, S. Chase, J. Jones, G. Jeffus, W. Boswell, and E. S. Lewis newly joined.

P. T. A. Meeting At High School

The regular monthly P T A meeting was held Monday evening in the High School. After business, a short program followed with two selections by the Baby Band, a piano solo by Louise Ball, and songs by the Eighth Grade Glee Club.

Mohair and Wool Producers Hold Profit Meeting in New Mexico

A large gathering of mohair and wool producers from Duncan Animas Red Rock Cliff Silver City Bepar Deming Kingston Gila Tyrone met at the courthouse to discuss the American Mohair Producers Cooperative Marketing Corporation. Roy Dawnpport and Bob Davis outlined the plan with endorsement from Dr. W L Black and Lyman W Gleason. About 80 percent of attendees signed on to market through the new corporation. A follow up meeting is planned in Pinion on December 24 to include more New Mexico growers.
