Community Public Service Co wins safety plaque in national contest

The Community Public Service Company earned first place among combined gas and electric utilities in a National Safety Council contest. Its monthly frequency rate of .09 vastly outpaced the group average of 9.49, with Illinois Power Co of Peoria second and New Orleans Public Service Co third. The award marks 15 years of safety promotion, ongoing education, strict rules, and regular training to prevent accidents and protect workers.

Glee Club Candle Light Concert at Central School

The Glee Club presents a Candle Light Concert at the Central School auditorium Monday December 10 at 8 pm. The high school Glee Club and Chorus join for a full vested choir and a Candle Light processional. Iris Rade sings a solo and various Christmas songs from different countries. Hampton Infant Dies En Route To Lordsburg Hospital

Joseph A. Hampton Sr and Helen Dunlap Hampton mourn the loss of their infant son Joseph Jr born October 26 in Willcox. The child died November 28 while traveling from Willcox to Lordsburg with his mother and grandfather FE Dunlap. The funeral was Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Methodist Church with family in attendance.

Cloverdale Rancher Lee Henderson Dies in El Paso Hospital

Lee Henderson of Cloverdale died Monday in an El Paso hospital after a brief illness. He was a rancher and cattle raiser. Survivors include his wife Eva Henderson of Cloverdale, four daughters including Mrs. Fred Harvey of El Paso, a son, and a brother Van Henderson of Cloverdale. Burial was in Cloverdale yesterday afternoon at four o'clock.

Special Victory Bond to Honor Late President Washington DC

Treasury announces a Special Victory Bond during the Victory Loss campaign starting October 29 for 11 billion dollars. The bond honors the late President Freeklin Delano Roosevelt and will be sold as United States Savings Bonds Series B with a $150 issue price in $200 denomination. It adds a new denomination to Series EB Bonds with identical terms.
