The first ore car was loaded yesterday and will be shipped to the C and C smelter in Douglas Arizona. The property is considered promising with expected value rise at greater depth.
A party from Maddux Airlines including Mrs J J Maddux and directors landed at Lordsburg after a flight from Mexico City and failed to reach Tucson. They praised Lordsburg airport facilities and plan further flying concessions and routes, with Lordsburg named as a stop on a future San Diego to Dallas/mail route.
At Manhattan cafe the Luncheon club votes to proceed with reorganization into Sun shine Boosters at a future meeting. A committee led by G. P. Jeffra and others drafted tentative plans but small attendance delays action. Luncheon leaders urge large turnout for final decision while recent theft reports note a $5000 jewel loss in Chicago.
A Lordsburg Liberal note preserves a tintype revealing early Lordaburg scenes at Shake spear Street and Railroad Ave. It recalls a 1889 fire that destroyed saloons and shops, saved by locals including Mrs Simpson and Mexican workers, followed by a grand postfire celebration and a claim that two saviors saved the north end of town.
W. E. F. Holt secretary of the Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce travels by train to Barta Ve for the first statewide chamber meet held since Silver City formed a statewide body last August. Delegates discuss drafting a bill for a county tax levy to fund chamber activities. Lincoln Sicorish earns applause in New York vaudeville for heroism aboard the ill fated Vestris. Professor Daniel of France reports grafting garlic and cabbage plants without explanation.
The Lordsburg Liberal subscription drive closes its first period with hundreds of thousands of votes and a tight race among leading candidates. The second period runs through December 15, with Advertising Cards boosting subscriptions and ad credits toward a big prize for the winner.
