Wood visited the Tate experiment farm as a witness for a homesteader and reported excellent crops this year. He cited two bale per acre as a likely top yield for the region, with strong corn, hay, watermelons, cucumbers, alfalfa and garden produce. The pumping plant supplied ample water from underground sources.
Morenci High School under Superintendent W. F. Lutz held its 4th annual banquet with 36 pupils in attendance. Students and guests enjoyed a festive evening after Morenci’s football victory, with Lutz as master of ceremonies and Walter Searles contributing to the merriment.
Mes Hatloway has been improving at her home on High Street after a period of illness. Neighbors report she is responding well to treatment and resting at home. The update comes from her family and indicates continued gradual recovery.

Mrs Richard Tatsch hosted the Monday bridge club Tuesday afternoon. High score prize went to Mrs Ronald Epon. Refreshments followed for a long list of members and guests. Jobo and Clark will entertain December 14.
Mrs. A Redus and her Mt Vaso guest Miss Dorothy Jones returned Wednesday to Mt Vaso for the holidays, accompanied by Mrs. Jack Heather, her daughter.
Dr. and Mrs. C. Paul Austin entertained at dinner Tuesday evening with guests Mr. and Mrs. Earle Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Falk Lewis. Following the dinner, bridge was enjoyed. High score prizes went to Mr. and Mrs. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. George Tyra spent the holiday in El Paso.
The sewing club enjoyed a Tuesday meeting at the home of Mrs S M Chase. After a social hour they served pumpkin pie and coffee. Attendees included Mesdames George Trimble Harry Small Charles Fuller Jo Allen George Jeffus Ed Lewis Jolbert Jones A L Green A W Morningstar and guest Mrs George Keime. Mrs Charles Fuller will host next Tuesday.
Mrs. J. N. Lester hosted Richard's eighth birthday Sunday afternoon from two to four thirty. Lorraine James Mildred Howe and Jackie Heather won prizes. A. Jennings, ex outlaw of Oklahoma and former movie star, will speak at the Baptist church Sunday night. Sunday school is at 10 a.m. A sermon titled Little Children by O. F. E. Davis is set for 11 a.m. A prayer service led by Mrs. Sam Gass is planned for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Palace Theatre last Friday night showed a great musical convention with Lordsburg champion band in a top publicity piece. The two competing bands were featured, with Lordsburg prominently shown. A special picture of band masters Sousa and Gokman was arranged by Lordsburg’s publicity director.

Mrs. Preston Nelson of San Simon spends the holidays with her sisters Mrs. Thallie Pverett and Miss Hazel Turney, sharing a festive family gathering and cheerful moments.

Notice from Lordsburg Post No WW says the Monday December 7 meeting is postponed due to the illness of Post Commander Nila T Kjellatrom. The next regular gathering will occur the first Monday in January with hopes for full attendance by local members. Other notes list several visiting guests and local residents visiting in town.

Jose De La Rosa died Friday morning at his home in Aire Heights after a long illness. A former Southern Pacific section foreman he leaves a widow and four children. Interment was held Saturday at Shakespeare Cemetery with many friends and relatives in attendance.
Hon. Byron Beall and Commissioner Juan A. Vigil visited Hidalgo County discussing county tax matters not as officials. They praised the county treasurer’s tax collection, noting Hidalgo’s lead over many counties. They planned to travel to Tyrone and Santa Hita to discuss assessment adjustments and then to Steins with County Assessor Matilda Jones.
At the regular Lions meeting there were no special motions but it was voted to hold the ladies night banquet on December 11 in the Methodist Church basement.
Lordsburg Parent-Teacher Association accepts an invitation to meet the Virden Parent-Teacher Association in Virden on the evening of Thursday December 10. Local members and citizens are invited. J P Montrezat chief Boy Beaut executive will visit Lordsburg December 10 to plan district headquarters. Virden Hae chita Valedon and Anining will be in the Lordsburg district.
Hidalgo County taxpayers with delinquent taxes as of December 1 1991 can avoid penalties if paid by January 4 1952. If payment is not made by that date the December penalty will be added. Sylvia Kerk County Treasurer announces in the Bee.

Edward L. Cocks of Animal and Miss Dixie Ellen Gill of Morton Texas wed November 21 in Lordsburg. Rev W W Wilkerson conducted the ceremony with few friends present. The bride has taught at Animas school for months and the groom is a ranchman of the Animas section.
