Manager C. E. Wheelock reports at Lordsburg that the Volcano Mining Co. employs 22 men and is improving. Veins on multiple levels include 15 foot at 30 ounces silver and 18 foot at unknown grade, with 150 feet of development on the 00 level. An 80 foot shaft on the Wyman claim yields 18 to 20 ounce silver in a 7 foot vein and another 60 ton car is ready for shipment this week. The company now holds 31 claims and foresees a large silver camp.

A Sunday afternoon fire consumed the Krauser home, a six room frame structure built around 1879 80. Mr and Mrs Krauser lost everything, aided by neighbors Mr and Mrs Geo W Bailey who offered shelter. The house belonged to M Q Hardin and was partly insured. Forty years ago R B Dunagan of Animas cared for the property, famed as best furnished in town.

Death of Pioneer Jake Arnett in Duncan
Jake Arnett longtime lordensburg resident died at his Duncan home Friday evening after a brief illness. He was brought to town for burial from the Christian church with Alfred Brunk preaching and burial at Mountainview cemetery. He never married and was a general favorite in Lordensburg and Duncan.
