Virden irrigation project irrigates 400 acres with 70 ft well

A group of Virden farmers formed a corporation to build a pumping system feeding 400 acres. The 70 foot well near the Gila river supplies over 2000 gallons per minute through a 12 inch pipe, powered by a 671 GM Diesel. Crops include onions melons cotton hegari and peaches despite a dry season.
