Lordsburg Public Schools will open on September 8 1950 at the Grade building, not yet fully completed but nearly ready. The superintendent Vernon O. Tolle urges community involvement to support the new school program and ensure children receive the best training.
The Chamber of Commerce received Mrs J N Bleed wife of the U S Tariff Commissioner in Washington D C for a pleasant call on Wednesday morning She spoke highly of the New Mexico wines and praised the overall quality she observed during her western tour She noted the high standards found on the trip and shared kind remarks about local produce.
The Big Horn Game Protective Association will hold a smoker at the private dining room of the Coffee Pot Cafe tonight. The meeting aims to discuss association matters and to brief delegates attending the state convention in Albuquerque. C F Morris and Leo Cohen will represent the district. Members urged to attend.
John S. Rice returned Saturday from the Epworth League assembly at Trinity Methodist Church El Paso August 17. He was dean and re-elected for the coming year. Over a hundred attended. ninety six enrolled for credit. Cloud Miller was re-elected president of the Epworth League conference. Emily Lewis Christine Lovett and Louise Ball attended and represented Lords tone reporting a delightful time and cooler Lordsburg weather versus El Paso.
County Commissioner Charlies Fuller completes a large three car garage with abundant space for coal wood and home storage. The structure features heavy timber framing and a sturdy outside finish giving a neat appearance.
The Methodist conference asks members to attend services at the K P Hall basement including Sunday morning and evening worship. They seek volunteers for evening music and hope to form a full orchestra soon.
Thelma Mathews, widow of Frank Mathews of Lordsburg, reportedly killed herself on a Tuesday afternoon in Tucson Arizona. Neighbors and relatives note long illness and family strain as factors. Mathews leaves behind a teenage son and several years of hardship.

Mrs. Elva H Richardson Mrs. Betty Ingram and Mrs. Daisy Upton of Deming visited Mr. and Mrs. J Wells and Mr. and Mrs. James Clayton Sunday. They attended church and heard Brother Hedmond Presiding Elder preach. Charlie Yarbrough Herbert Strange and W A Ballard of Animas were in town Monday conferring with Olivia M Wells County Superintendent.
Russell Martin, a mining contractor formerly with the Pacific Copper Company at the Bonney Mine, was visiting friends in Lordsburg on Tuesday. He was noted as working at a mine near Alamogordo in the mountains.
Mrs. Raymond Rudd and two daughters left Saturday to join her husband in Silver City where Rudd has supplied the pastorate of the First Baptist Church. Regular pastor Wiley Hinton was away at church conventions in Oklahoma Montezuma New Mexico.
Major Fleet and Lt. Leigh Wade of the Aircraft Corporation Unit stopped at Lordsburg Airport on a westbound flight from Buffalo. They were hosted by Mr and Mrs Hurley D Jones, praised Lordsburg hospitality, and planned to continue to the coast after a late evening reception. Wade noted the warm reception and hoped to return soon.
Mrs Hallye Woods wife of James Woods long employed at Ave BS Mine died Sunday night in Valedon. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Monday with Hey Wilkerson preaching and Jack Heather directing. Mr Woods went to El Paso to stay with daughter Mrs Perrin for a short time.
Mre A Gannon hosted the Wednesday bridge club afternoon at the Go Hotel Lounge. There was one table of bridge. Prize was won by Mere JC oT Amoe. There were no guests.
Mee Annie McQueen died Friday August 22 at 11 00 A M after long illness. Born October 7 1856 in Dingwall Scotland she immigrated to America in 1849 and married Thomas McQueen in Boston. Survived by daughter Mrs Banks Austin of Valedon New Mexico son Thomas McQueen of Chicago and one grandson Kenneth McQueen. Funeral was held Monday at 10 00 A M at the Catholic Church in Las Cruces.
Mrs Sam Gass hosted a Wednesday afternoon gathering of the Ww. M. U. of the Baptist Church at her home. The Union study covered Old Testament questions and answers after devotional services refreshments were served to Mesdames Sessum Christian Charles Pence Felix Winslow Frank Weldon M. L. Thomas Miss Myrle Pence and the hostess.
Billy Jones reports the Las Vegas training camp exceeded expectations with many new activities and strong enthusiasm from Silver City and Deming troops. He was the sole attendee from Lordsburg.
Mr and Mrs Frank Corbell and children Budge and Annabelle along with Rev and Mrs W W Wilkerson depart Monday evening for a restation trip. They plan to visit El Paso Croudcroft Roswell and Carlsbad Caverns and expect to be gone several days.

The system serves all classrooms from a central studio, enabling music, art, and history lessons via radio and phonograph. National programs and events are broadcast for student instruction and safety drills.

Professor Joan Wright and J Ethan Wright arrived from Mt Carmel Illinois where they spent the summer to lead duties at Rolomonville and Valedon schools.
The Dolly Dimple Lewis Club held its meeting Tuesday from three to five with Louise Rice in attendance.
Miss Dolly Trendt of the U S Post Office and Everett O Wogsted of the War Department were married last week. Wogsted has reenlisted and resumes as Chief of the Radio Office at Lordsburg Airport. Trendt will remain in the classified Post Office service.
Mrs. Tom Green Upton, Mra, J. C. Ingram and Mrs. Anna Richardson drove over from Deming, Sunday.
Mr and Mrs George P Jeffus spent part of a Sunday at Cave Creek and Hustler's Park and returned via Willcox.
Louise Wallace Birchfield long known as Wally and a former Lordsburg teacher died suddenly after plans to visit friends and pursue study at the University of Arizona. She passed away in a hospital in El Dorado Arkansas, leaving many admirers and memory of her warm service.
Mr and Mrs Frank Stengele and family and Stephan Birchfield and Mr and Mrs Harpham and son Robert of Valedon enjoyed a picnic on the Silver City road Sunday.

Luna County endorses Hionovalle Anos W. Pollard of Deming for governor on the Republican ticket. Pollard, a Wisconsin native and noted lawyer, has held the Grand Masonic Lodge chairs, Knights Templar commandery, and served as District Attorney.
