Mr and Mrs R B Ownby visited El Paso Saturday to see the Mearns family who have bought a home there Mrs Ownby says Mr Mearns is back with the Customs Service and on Sunday he played records he made of local music groups while teaching at LHS.

Mrs. Moselle Messecar announces the marriage of her daughter Mary Laura to Bennie Everett at the Silver City Methodist parsonage Saturday August 17. The ceremony was led by Rev. B M Dennis at 6 PM. Mary Laura, a New Mexico University student and former Waves member, is the daughter of Mrs. M Messecar. Bennie Everett, son of Mrs. Ted Kennedy, is a Lordsburg High School alumnus and former Air Corps radar instructor with 35 months service, nine overseas, trained at Scott Field Truax Field and Boca Raton.
A Sunday gathering at Cave Creek drew a cheerful group of young locals including Mr and Mrs Myles Cohen Mr and Mrs Billy Fisher Mr and Mrs Damon Dunagan and Jimmy Mr and Mrs Marion Kimbley and Billy Mr and Mrs Billy Kimbley Mr and Mrs David Warren Miss Mary Louise Noce Gene and Fausto Noce and Ped Brown.

The Lions Club met at noon with 19 members present. After routine business, plans were made for a picnic next Tuesday evening at 7 30 at the Golf Course. Lions and families are invited. the event will feature a Weiner roast and watermelon bust.

Mr and Mrs Charles Williams and Steven Birchfield were guests of Mr and Mrs Garland McHalffey. Mrs McHalffey, formerly of Scotland, served a fine chicken dinner. The group spent the afternoon fishing, marking a happy day in the U S spirit.
James Codding will depart Monday for Topeka Kansas where he will be stationed. Mrs. Codding will stay here a week longer while he finds living quarters.

The group plans a Sunday trip to their orchard in Hondo New Mexico. Moselle Messecar Katherine Bowman and Sharon visited Silver City on Thursday.
The annual Womans Club luncheon will be held September 16 at the Up-To-Date Cafe at 1 p.m. Price is $1.00. Club members should reserve with Mrs. C. M. Stele by Friday September 15 via telephone 8.
Miss Mary Jane Egan of Los Angeles is visiting her grandmother in the city, stopping by local shops and joining family gatherings during the stay.

Mayfield fished with friends at Big Dry Creek, bringing a basket of ten to twelve inch fish. Teachers arrive across the week with Fischer and McCall due in, and students' bell to ring Monday at nine.

Walter White and his son Ariana joined the Jack McGhee family and Miss Ima Fairly for a weekend gathering in Mesa. The group enjoyed a picnic on Sunday at the 85. White is noted as the former Miss Bella Niecum of Valedon.
Mrs Blas Nove hosted a 7 p m birthday gathering for her son Paus Noce, a former prisoner of war. Guests included Mr and Mrs Charles Williams, Mr and Mrs Damon Dunagan, Mr and Mrs Myles Cohen, Mr and Mrs Billy Fisher, Mrs Mary Louise Noce, Gene Noce and Pete Brown. a large cake and gifts marked the celebration.
The Music Club gathered Tuesday evening with hosts Mr. and Mrs. Nat Gammon. Attendees included Dr. and Mrs. B. Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Warle Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Scofield, Mrs. Thelma Ross and Glen Ross Jr.
Twenty members of the American Legion Auxiliary met for a monthly meeting at the Women's Club last Wednesday. Future meetings are set for the third Thursday each month in 1947 with dues due by September 15. The Rehabilitation Chairman urges donations of clothing and other items to the library office. Mrs. Frank Bowman and Mrs. Homer Brooks will provide refreshments at the next gathering. All members are urged to attend.
The Womang Missionary Union of the Baptist Church gathered Wednesday at Mrs. George Nahom’s home. Mrs. Alabury led the Bible study.
Mrs. B. Austin will travel to Chicago on Monday to attend her nephew's wedding set for August 31.
Glen Ross Charles Crouch and Henry Ellison Jr were guests of Miss Sandra Day at the Day ranch last Friday evening. Miss Day entertained with dinner and a swimming party for Flournoy Wooten from El Paso. Terry Williams went to Biloxi Mississippi to serve as recruiting officer. Mr and Mrs T Eh Williams accompanied him to El Paso where he boarded a plane. Mrs Terry Williams stayed a few days longer and returned home Saturday. Blas Noce visited Silver City last weekend.
Mr and Mrs Allen Bowman and their three children were in El Paso at the start of the week.
Miss Ima Fairly spent last week in Willcox. On Sunday Miss Margery Fairly returned home for the day and Ima accompanied her back.
