The governor of New Mexico Mr HC Dillon writes to Holt praising the Lordsburg Liberal after forty four years of editorial work. The note commends the paper as constructive and high minded and notes Holt will remain connected with the state.
Justice Watson writes to editor Holts praising his career in Deming. The farewell message recalls their business relationship and notes that Holts did no personal harm while boldly opposing wrongs. The letter wishes him happiness and future visits.
A letter from August 18 1928 to Mr Holt praises the Liberal and mule editor in Lordsburg, noting strong, loyal friends in the town and hinting at Lordsburg becoming “Radium City” as part of local sentiment. They linger thirty minutes before continuing to Tucson under Federation Aeronautique Internationale rules.
Professor Fayette A. Jones former New Mexico School of Mines president says Lordsburg district will be one of the big copper camps of the southwest. He recalls 1906 predictions and notes recent ore activity confirming the region as a future copper center. Jones, a renowned geologist, has also helped develop oil in Winkler County Texas.
Project engineer T H W Card, formerly at Silver City, is called to Las Cruces to supervise the Broadway of America viaduct project. Mrs Card encloses a check and expresses mixed feelings about the move in a brief note to Mrs Beulah Card.

Mrs Borom shares flowers with hospital patients, while Timwers pursues a popular role and is valued by the public for his support of his wife.
Mr and Mrs J W Gleason returned from a long trip to Colorado and California. They hosted friends at their Main Street Highlandfield home. They attended an air demonstration in San Diego and report 28000 planes formed in formation. Mr Gleason resumes duties as County Agent for Hidalgo County, promising record progress next year.
Fortier residents Mr and Mel Moore now live at Pecos and have spent a few days with Lordsburg friends. They announce that Moore is head of the D A inspection covering much of the southwest territory. The piece recalls their time in the area and expresses pleasure at their visit.
The Douglas community reports Raymond Scott, son of Mr and Mrs N J Scott, has been hired by the Bank of Douglas marking a promising start. Mrs Jack Heather and Dora Ellen Heather, along with Harbour Heather, visited Wilcox recently. Mrs Heather's uncle A Donaldson of El Paso joined them briefly before traveling on to Wilcox.
A visitor from the area recently returned from Carsbad and described the Carlsbad caverns as indescribable and transcendent in their magnificence after a formal visit at a local hospital.
The Epworth League Assembly of the New Mexico conference is in session at Chivis with Jol S. Ries, president of the State Assembly, presiding. Ries has edited the Sonshine Leaguer for a year, and the latest issue is a Town paper size publication printed on book paper. The assembly offers a work and entertainment program expected to benefit the conference.
Plans and arrangements near completion for the opening of Lordsburg schools on Tuesday September fourth. The teaching staff and classes are listed with degrees and duties, enrollment to start at nine with lessons beginning Wednesday. All pupils should be vaccinated or present recent vaccination certificates.
Judge Carl P. Dunifon was in town Saturday for court business. The popular jurist, youngest on the district benches, has drawn attention in other districts and remains a favorite at home. Mrs McCabe and Mrs Holt joined the Faucation County Board at Virden on Monday to review progress in the community.
At the Governors' Conference in Carlsbad Cavern Captain Bolles announced Jim White, the Cavern discoverer, believes a new passage may be imminent. If found an outlet to the cavern would allow sightseers to traverse straight through to the other side and continue onward. The Texas line is seen as likely for an authorized road by the Texas Commissioner.
The Southwestern Mavers announce a four act drama to be staged next Monday night with three hours of entertainment. Cast includes Mam Gases as an old negro omniny and Frank McCarthy as preacher, Dorothy Creutt as sweetheart, Gladye Wilkerson as persecuted schoolmarm, and Wade Willutt as detective. Tickets available at several town outlets and from Dolly and Opal Teendt at the post office.
A Sunday evening picnic event near Deming gathers guests including John Clack Wade Williame and Frank McCartty with Mary Clark Ellen Martin and Margare Jackson among others. The group shares a dinner at the Bogey Top with remarks by local residents.
