Field Appears Good for Oil Drilling in Lordsburg Area

J. Beck and Harry W. of Los Angeles with Anderson report months of study in Lordsburg pointing to commercial oil potential. Carl J Weller to supervise development. derrick and water line to be installed after road completion. Weller notes field as one hundred percent good, with a drilling outfit able to reach great depths and a recently finished 8,500 foot well at Coalinga. Local officials praised Lordsburg citizens led by Colonel Willard E Holt Judge B B Ownby and County Board for support. Anderson adds there is no stock for sale and emphasizes cautious progress.

Registration Close May Change Voter Party Affiliation

County Clerk Eleanor F Tran reports many registrations in recent weeks with as many as twenty voters switching to vote a Democratic ticket in the primary. She notes some registered voters did not reveal party affiliations and emphasizes the new law requires declaring party in order to vote the party line.

Dannelleys Visit Silver City Family Weekend

Heavy rains flood Rodeo area and wash crosses highway

A heavy rainfall near Rodeo caused a wash nearly a mile wide to sweep the Cave Creek road intersection. Ranch lands flooded after years of drought and several cars were towed from the road by a local garage. Grazing prospects look excellent for the fall after the rain. Jack Hoggett admitted he finally saw rain on his range.

Sheriff John Cavin and Daisy Lea Kirkpatrick married in Deming last week with Judge Pennington presiding. Attendants included Grace Pence and C. B. Stage Set For New Mexico's First Feeder Sale

Plans are complete for New Mexico's first Feeder Sale linked to the Southwestern New Mexico Livestock Show and Fair opening October 10. A two day Grant Luna Hidalgo County tour promotes viewing breeding herds and ranches. About 700 calves will be auctioned the opening day led by Colonel Karl Garten, as roughly 16 000 head are expected this fall in the region.
