Manuel Alvarado Services Held Here Thursday
Manuel Alvarado 77 died after an extended illness at his Lordsburg home. Born October 12, 1913 in Somoza Pinal Arizona he lived in the Lordsburg area most of his life and served in World War II. He was active with VFW National Guard St. Joseph’s Church and local senior citizens group. He was survived by his wife Anita. Continued on Page 2.

Visitation was Wednesday at Baca's Heather Funeral Chapel and funeral was Thursday with Rev Coy Brewer officiating. Interment Mountain View Cemetery. Survived by 4 sons 7 daughters 29 grandchildren 33 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.

Lordsburg Names Clark Smith Fire Chief Replacing Ordonez
Clark Smith will assume Lordsburg Fire Chief duties succeeding John Ordonez who leaves for Hatch Police. Ordonez, with five years in the volunteer department, praised the group and noted new equipment came during his tenure. Smith, with nine years in the department, promises continued safety training and notes a new $115,000 fire truck funded by the State Fire Fund is on the way.
