Lordsburg hosts Labor Day rodeo with sheep and goats on display and prizes for owners. Goats will also be allowed to participate. Ralph Smith in charge of arrangements promises new stunting acts to entertain fans during the event.

100 Foot Fall in Mine Ends in Fatality near Duncan

A miner employed by the Arizona department near Duncan died after an old timber broke in a shaft. He fell about 100 feet and lay for over three hours before being brought to the surface by a rope airwing from Clifton. Two companions who explored the mine with him survived. No relatives have been located for the deceased.

Record Holding Miner John Knax Butte Passes On

John Knax, miner and holder of drilling records, died recently in San Jose. Born in 1868 in Cornish, he helped sink the Parrot shaft and broke ground at the Tearmway shaft for Anaconda Copper Mining Co. Weighing 148 pounds, he set a 1898 Francisco drilling record in Rolson granite and had resided in Butte for 43 years.

Copper radiator may still be seen in use

A 1914 era copper radiator Ford truck owned by T B Winslow near Lordsburg is described as still active. The unit, with a copper radiator hood, dates from an early Ford model around 1914 and remains in service in Hidalgo county despite modernization.

A Nazarene church program drew a large audience Sunday. Rev. F. White led scripture and prayer with Rev. C. L. Wright. Mrs. Frank Hindman gave the talk on missions. Special and junior songs featured Rev. F. A. White, Mrs. V. Wright, and Mrs. F. A. White. Rev. C. L. Wright gave the benediction.

Buddy Brown becomes the first president of the state Barbers Examiners Board of New Mexico. He will inspect barbers across eleven southern counties from Lordsburg, with Governor Seligman and Secretary of State Haea meeting him at the cap itol. Lordsburg Union Plans Delegates and Medal Contest

The Lordsburg union prepares to elect three delegates for the state convention to be held August 16. The president is an ex officio delegate, with four delegates total from Lordsburg.
