Two Ladies Complete Five Thousand Mile Auto Trip

Mrs. C. H. McIntosh and Mrs. J. C. Boham, guests at the Hidalgo Hotel, returned from a San Francisco round trip of five thousand miles. Mrs. Boham drove half the distance while Mrs. McIntosh used her own car. The couples have long resided in Lordsburg, tied to Mr. McIntosh's mining interests.

New Mexican Sailors Get Slicked Up at Frisco Service Center

In San Francisco California the Pepsi-Cola Center for Service Men and Women offers free ironing boards and facilities to Sailors from New Mexico before they head to the Golden Gate City. Hidalgo County Sought for Southwest History Records

First Women Air Corps Members Ready at Pocatello Field

Lordsburg Corporal Rubio Completes 68 Bombing Missions

Corporal Guadalupe M. Rubio of Lordsburg New Mexico is lauded for completing sixty eight combat missions in a B24 Liberator squadron based in England. He joined the service March 4 1949 and trained at Port Townsend Washington. The unit under Lt Colonel Hugh C Arnold fought over Berlin Bremen and invasion coast targets contributing to the European bombing offensive.

Sarah Elizabeth Newton was born in Stroud Oklahoma on October 4 1900 and died in Lordsburg July 27 1944. She lived in Oklahoma and Arizona most of her life and is survived by her husband A J Buright a daughter Dolores Laveta of Troy New York a son John Henry in the U S Marines in the Pacific her parents and nine brothers and four sisters. Funeral at the Methodist Church in Lordsburg with Rev Franklin Poage officiating.

Two Lunt Sisters Die In Duncan Home Fire

A Dun can family loses two young girls Louise five and her sister four in a Waldo Lunt home fire caused by a kerosene refrigerator. The parents escaped with the baby, both older children perished as the roof collapsed. A double funeral was held at the Duncan Mormon church with burial in Duncan Cemetery.

New Mexico Cattle Growers Set September Meeting in Albuquerque

The third quarterly executive board gathering of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association is planned for September 26 in Albuquerque with a pre-meeting on September 24 at the Hilton.
