City officials in Lordsburg plan one street rehabilitation project with potential for a second as bids and funding are reviewed. The move comes as officials seek to improve infrastructure and curb traffic issues.
Lordsburg High School students planning football or volleyball must pass a physical in Silver City with Dr. Lund on August 7 and 9. Fee five dollars. Bus leaves Maverick Stadium at 3 00 p m with 20 slots per trip. Signups start Monday evening with Coach Louie Baisa.
The Hidalgo County Fair Parade inches toward shape with floats from Western Bank Senior Citizens Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Best Western American Phelps Dodge Tobosa Belles Chamber of Commerce Lordsburg Youth Group Shakespeare Can Can Girls and a mule pulled water truck. Clarisa the clown from Cave Creek will appear with candy push cart and seeks kids to dress as clowns to help hand out sweets. Also slated are Smokey and Woodsy Forest Ranger Care Bear and the Mini Mavericks with high school bands pending confirmation. Call the Chamber of Commerce to join. The 1991 theme is Hidalgo Heritage.

The Hidalgo Hotel in Lordsburg, built by the Gammons and opened in 1928, may be restored and listed on the federal historic register. Local officials seek grants and plan to create a walking tour to boost tourism and house a future museum.
Football players interested in this year to meet at Maverick Stadium on Monday August Sth at 4 00 p m. Attendees will receive information on physicals insurance practice times and related details. Equipment will be issued at the gathering.
R C Cuco Gutierrez 65 former Lordsburg resident died July 22 in Inglewood California. Born Pratt New Mexico July 4 1926 he served in the Philippines and Japan. He held a chemical engineering degree from Indiana Technical University a law degree from Northrup University and a taxation masters. Funeral services were held in Inglewood and graveside services at Shakespeare Cemetery Lordsburg with pallbearers named.
