Maj Grashio to Speak in Silver City on Prisoner Tale

Direct news from soldier Maj Samuel Grashio, prisoner escapee from the Philippines, arrives in Albuquerque around April 27 and will tour Silver City and other towns. He will address relatives and friends at Light Hall onFriday night about the Jap hold on American troops and the New Mexico Anti Aircraft unit. The talk is free and open to the public.

Womans Club Party Attracts Fifty Attendees

Onions Jump Price During Wartime Shortage in New Mexico

Lee of San Mateo, both leaders in state livestock groups, were named to the National Meat Industry Advisory Committee as the CPA reports an average 50 percent reduction in ration points for lamb from April 40. In New Mexico the Arkansas Valley saw many lambs from the state ready for market but not yet sold, creating wartime anxieties.

Navy accepts Charles I. Crouch Jr at Santa Fe office

Charles I. Crouch Jr. was accepted by the U S Navy on April 19 at the main recruiting station in Santa Fe. He volunteered through the Navy recruiting sub station at Silver City. Sworn in as apprentice seaman he was released to inactive duty to finish his final high school semester before transfer to the Naval Training Station.

Hidalgo county leads the state in per capita salvage collection as the Lordsburg Iron and Metals Co. and a Roswell firm earn pennants for exceeding quotas.
