Lordsburg Softball Association Plans Season Launch
The Lordsburg Softball Association met at the high school April 25 to elect officers and outline eight team entries for the season. Commissioners Leo Cohen Lenin Kerr James Secretar y Treasurer Leslie Harvel announced rosters up to 15 players and a $10 entrance fee due at a May 8 meeting to finalize teams. The association también announced a junior league for boys under 17 with rules remaining as last year until new changes.

Lordsburg High School Band Spring Concert Friday Apr 27
Lordsburg High School Band presents its spring concert Friday night April 27 at 8 00 in the high school auditorium featuring five graduating seniors. Solo and ensemble selections include Marilyn Kuykendall Williams Lang Leola Rae Payne and Gilbert Ruiz Strong with a saxophone trio and a clarinet solo. Proceeds support the band fund for instruments uniforms repairs and trips.

Remember The Blood Bank May 8 at Legion Hall
Blood pledges for the Red Cross blood bank have been received and will be distributed to volunteer organizations. If not contacted to sign a pledge, donate at Mrs. Co. B. Austin or Mrs. S. Jack Heather for a pledge card. About 250 volunteers are needed to provide 175 pints.

Wilson School Operetta to Be Given on Friday

Road Fatigue Fatality Near Fort Bliss in 1950
A July 24 1950 early morning crash near Fort Bliss Texas killed Herman Montano immediately as his car collided head on with an eastbound vehicle. Authorities suspect fatigue caused him to fall asleep at the wheel. The other vehicle occupants escaped harm while Montano, discharged from the Army two days earlier, was en route home to Tucson Arizona.

Local Students Honored for Career Conference Merit
Lordsburg students awarded certificates of merit at the Career Conference held April 20 and 21 were honored at a special high school assembly on April 24. The program opened with an inhouse one act play It Does Something for You by dramatics and speech students. Awards were presented by sponsoring teachers with ratings of superior to satisfactory for the work.
