Animas High School Prom and Banquet Evening

Animas High School held its prom and banquet Saturday at 8 o clock at the school. The program featured a theme Last Round The menu listed songs and performances by Willis Walcast and others with dances led by juniors and seniors as well as a Lasso act by Pete English. Parents and friends attended the senior and junior classes.

OPA official cites meat market factors behind black market

Evelyn Brunton, district OPA price specialist, told KOB radio last Friday that most wholesale meat moves through legitimate channels and most retailers act honestly. She said over ceiling sales are not large enough to hinder packers from securing cattle or consumers from buying within legal prices, and she named five contributing factors beyond OPA control.

District OPA rent executive Flynn O Malley urged prospective buyers to check ceiling rents on rental property before purchase. El Paso residents Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Slessing arrived in Lordsburg to visit old friends. They hosted lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Luella Clark. The Lordsburg High School Music Department will present its Annual Spring Concert on Monday April 20 at 8 p m in the high school auditorium. Vocal groups perform first followed by the high school band with several solos and a varied program featuring classical and folk selections.

Eliah Thomas Nichols dies. funeral held on Good Friday in Lordsburg

Elijah Thomas Nichols born 1869 in Pope County Arkansas died April 18 1946 in Lordsburg New Mexico. Funeral at Heather Mortuary Good Friday 4 p m led by Rev Franklin R Poage with burial in Mountain View Cemetery. Survived by sons Irving and Walter Nichols both of Alamogordo NM and four sisters. He was a longtime resident of New Mexico since 1888 formerly from Texas and a Methodist. Pallbearers listed.

Easter Sunday offering boosts World Service Obligation

The note reports an Easter morning offering of 250.33 applied to a 300.00 World Service Obligation to fund benevolences. The pastor thanks supporters for Holy Week and Sunday attendance. Death of Local Boy John Melugin at Lordsburg

John Harris Melugin aged 6 died at Lordsburg Hospital after a brief illness. Born September 24, 1939, in Lordsburg, he lived his life here and attended the Methodist Church Sunday School. He is survived by his parents Roy and Mrs Melugin, his brother Roy Jr, and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church with a Sunday School choir and visiting musicians. interment followed in Clovis Monday. The community offers sympathy to the family.
