Lordsburg becomes the hub for a major Western Union project with eight crews, 192 workers, and copper wire from Los Angeles to El Paso and beyond. About 140,000 pounds of copper wire, 54,000 insulators, and 6,000 cross arms are on site as engineers estimate 3,000,000 pounds of copper required. Old Timer Conner Reaches 68th Birthday in Upper Valley

Loyal resident Mr Conner of the Upper Valley celebrated his 68th birthday Saturday. He has lived here for over half his life with eight years spent in this area. The Hidalgo county Chamber of Commerce met Friday at the Ven dome Hotel with high turnout. They sought funds from the State Engineer and possible federal aid to match bond money for road construction and a county courthouse, jail, and building site. Commissioners Poster and Hoss favored issuing a bond call after preliminary steps. Careless Jitney Driver Fined After Near Miss with Mayor
