Old Timer Jim Harvey Receives Visitor from Lordebure’s Era

Lordebure’s veteran W A Leonard, aged 81, visited Beach California to recall seven years on City Court. He was joined by his wife, sister of Mrs Leonard, founder of the Lily Enterprise in 1882, and the Liberal party’s Kedzie connection. Price at Gold Hill uncovers valuable three-metal ore vein

Young Price, Hidalgo surveyor, reports a new ore sample from the Gold Hill camp showing a vein two inches wide with value in gold silver and copper. He notes the vein missed by early prospectors and plans development of the property after transporting ore by mule train.

Engineer C J Grewer of the PWA visited Lordsburg and praised WPA projects. He inspected the City Hall and City County Library, along with sidewalks, saying the work is among the best in the state. Library construction progresses rapidly toward a very complete building.

Gene Luckie hosted a dinner in the Blue Room of the Railroad club with Mr. and Mrs. L. Bruce Hatfield and guests from Michigan including Joe E Wells Mrs. Daisy L. Lordsburg Lions Hear Gas System Talk And Legion Visit

Lions club president Miller presided as Engineer C J Gieger from the State PWA office and Commander Claude Sanders of the Lordsburg American Legion spoke. Gieger outlined a potential natural gas system and benefits, while Sanders urged cooperation to attract a state Legion convention. A committee of Paul W Brown Thomas Taggart and Dr Co B Austin was appointed to study the convention possibility. Young Bounds visited town from a ranch north of Separ.

Bible quiz and spelling bee ordered for next Sunday

The program will shift to include a Bible question bee and an old fashioned spelling bee. Typewritten questions will be distributed to all members, with help available on request. New member Dorothy Jones joined last Sunday. Sunrise breakfast date will be announced next Sunday evening.

Sudden Death Of Mrs. E S Thygerson At Virden

The widow Judith Richins Thygerson wife of EB Thygerson Hidalgo county commissioner died Sunday afternoon after a brief illness following a joint camp celebration. A large Virden funeral was held Tuesday at the Community Hall with services by LDS Church officials. Surviving children and grandchildren are named, with many relatives and officials from Lordsburg and nearby towns attending the rites. The Hidalgo county courthouse closed in respect.

Aviatrix Bobbie Lupton landed a new Ryan aircraft at Lordsburg Airport on Monday afternoon after a forced landing half a mile south of the field. She cleared wires with no injuries or damage to pilot or ship.
