Lame Duck Travel Limited by New Mexican Measure

Inspector Dies After Fall at Playas Construction Site
Carl Grauel 41, a German national and inspector for a Brown & Root sub contractor, died after apparently falling 35 to 40 feet in a hazardous area at the Phelps Dodge facility in Playas. He was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m. April 12 at the Phelps Dodge Clinic, with autopsy planned in Silver City. Deputies continue its investigation as Hidalgo County officers report. Also noted is the Hidalgo County Republican Convention electing officers Clyde Richins as chairman and Charles McGhee as vice chairman among others, with plans for a state convention in Albuquerque on April 16.
