Finances Block City Joint Powers On County Plan

City Council in special session refused to join a county wide ground work for land use and zoning regulations citing financial strain. Schatz Gets Okay On Land Use Plan

County Commissioners authorize Joe Schatz to draft the Land Use Plan with a task force for four to six months after approving a $5,000 fee. Playas Road Project Receives 350000 Approval

Governor Gary Carruthers signed House Bill 24 allocating 350000 for the Playas Road project. State Rep. Tom Foy introduced the measure and noted earlier 1989 bills aimed at funding the project, with further funding expected in 1990. He said 15 bills were introduced, 12 signed, two died in committee, and no special session planned.

Tax filing deadline extended to Monday in Lordsburg

Lordsburg postmaster Bobby Borrego announced the filing deadline for income taxes is extended to midnight Monday April 17 because April 15 falls on Saturday. The extension provides taxpayers extra time to complete returns and avoid penalties.

Bingaman Co-Sponsors Landfill Legislation in Congress

Senator Jeff Bingaman backs a bill allowing states to approve or disapprove importing solid waste for landfill use.
