Budget Hearing Schedule For Hidalgo County 1974
The Department of Finance and Administration in Santa Fe released the Hidalgo County budget hearing itinerary for 1974 1975. Hidalgo County hearings are May 29 in Lordsburg with the county budget at 8:00 a.m. at the Hidalgo County Courthouse Lordsburg City Hall hosts the Lordsburg budget at 1:00 p.m. Virden also holds hearings at Lordsburg City Hall at 3:00 p.m. Officials are urged to attend and the public is invited.

Lordsburg VFW presented two separate grants totaling 200 to local entities. One hundred dollars went to Hidalgo County General Hospital for discretionary use, and another hundred supported the Lordsburg High School band. Lordsburg Public School District will dismiss early on April 12 to make up time missed during the state basketball tournament. Principal Harry Heath notes morning classes proceed as normal and the cafeteria will operate. Easter break runs April 12 through April 21 with classes resuming April 22.

A one vehicle crash last week killed Lee L. Bounds, 39, of Lordsburg. State Police and Hidalgo County deputies responded to a wreck about three miles west of Animas on State Road 9 where they found the jeep in ruin. Further details are on Accident Page 16.
