Lordsburg Considers Water Tank Suit and Golf Course Support

City Attorney Paul Sherman outlined a rough draft lawsuit against unnamed contractors over the collapsed water tank and discussed bids to replace Blue Cross workers' insurance. Council also weighs funding two full-time golf course workers and approves $325 liability insurance for an unused municipal building.

Post Office Adds Improvements in Lordsburg

Lordsburg post office installs 32 new mail boxes inside the building for customers without boxes or home delivery. Outside boxes near Gambles labeled Local and Out-of-Town help separate mail faster, speeding delivery. Postmaster A. M. Elkcio urges use of the new boxes to improve service.

Established Firm Takes New Name

Frank Bowman president of Deming Federal Savings announced this week that effective April 1 1975 the Savings and Loan Association name is being officially changed to Home Federal Savings and Loan Association. Bowman said the change followed careful consideration by him and the Board of Directors with the final decision made late last year.

Four Corners Offer Promises Surplus Federal Property Aid

Hawley Atkinson of the Four Corners Regional Commission told the Southwest Council of Governments in Silver City that counties and towns in New Mexico Colorado Arizona and Utah qualify for surplus federal equipment. The commission has secured over $1 million in property for New Mexico in three months, about 90 percent of items distributed.

McGhee Heads GOP in Hidalgo County Meeting

Members of the Republican Party of Hidalgo County elected officers for two years at the Hidalgo County Courthouse. Donald McGhee was chosen chairman succeeding Robert T. Reynolds. Jody Rutland became vice chairman with Berdina McGhee as vice chairwoman and Cordelia Parker as secretary treasurer. Charles L. McGhee Alvin L. Parker and Cordelia Parker named to the State Central Committee.
