Hosts are First National Bank of Lordsburg Mimbres Valley Bank Deming and American National Bank Silver City.

On Saturday April 5 1941 at 1245 pm Boy Scouts of America from Lordsburg will travel to Deming to assess Deming Scouts readiness for Camp Zack White to be held April 26 26 The event includes flag raising and knot tying fire by friction and flint and steel competitions Volunteers with cars to transport about 40 Scouts should contact Claude Sanders at 70 J The group meets at the Up To Date warehouse across from the store.

NOW LT LAGGART of Lordsburg, allied with attorney Thomas R Taggart, has risen from private to Second Lieutenant in the Anti Aircraft regiment of the New Mexico National Guard. He will be stationed at Fort Bliss. Mrs Earl Ross of Seguin, Texas, visited the Warren family of Separ. she is Mrs Warren's niece.
Helen M. Thompson mother of Mrs. J M Dorrance died after a hip fracture and hospital treatment. Funeral from Church of Christ in Kansas City with burial in Clarence Missouri. Born June 30 1849 in New York. married Miles Thompson had five children. moved from Missouri to Kansas City then to Lords.
The Rev. Amancio Manubens Carmelite Father Pastor of Hae don Arizona led a church mission that concluded March 27 with confessions heard until 2 15 a m. Parishioners praised his lengthy talks Prepare Yourself For the Father land and thanked Rev Frank A Basile.
Neely Marsalis is in the DeMoss Hospital with pneumonia. Mrs. Fannie Poindexter suffered a severe injury to her right hand Monday when caught in a wringer and badly crushed. She was treated at DeMoss Hospital and returned home the next day. doctors expect no permanent damage.
Billie Poindexter son of Chief Engineer and Mrs J R Poindexter of Community Public Service Company earned distinguished aviation honors. He and Clinton Stanfield completed an aviation course at State Teachers College and earned private pilot licenses. They now train in Albuquerque for a secondary aviation program at UNM.

Night shows start at eight except Saturday with 3 to 10 oclock continuous afternoon films listed.

The Lordsburg mohair pool sold about 60,000 pounds last week at 49 1 2 cents for grown hair and 66 cents for kid hair. The pool, started a year ago, has saved growers thousands of dollars and accepts any grower regardless of banking. Proceeds go to each grower’s own bank. Sales to date include several towns and buyers such as Dupee & Sawyer Company of Boston.
Evangelistic services led by Clayton C. Root and G. B. Gordon continue through April 13 with daily topics on The Resurrection of Jesus. The program includes illustrated sermons and a booster chorus of youth, culminating Easter Sunday with The Power of the Resurrection.
Dr. H. H. Conder announces J. N. McNight of Fort Worth Texas, a lifelong jeweler and watchmaker, has been engaged to run the jewelry department at the Conder store. Conder will devote more time to optometry.
Mrs. H. B. Scofield attended the state convention in Carlsbad on March 27 28 and 29 with Mrs. R. W. Goddard of Mesilla presiding. Mrs. Sadie Orr Dunbar national president was guest of honor and installed state officers in the Caverns big room. Mrs. Fred Dennis of Clovis elected state president for the coming year. Scofield chaired resolutions as Lordsburg club president.
Rainbow Girls held a March birthday party at the Ionic Hall on a Saturday night. Misses Anna Beth and Lois Ewing were honored with gifts and games. Refreshments were served to all attendees.
Monroe Dunagan of Animas traveled to Lordsburg on Monday for a brief visit.
The 1941 Lordsburg High School senior class presents the comedy Winning Win nie tonight at eight in the school auditorium. Leving Toliver Kerr plays Pete Parker the Romeo sheep herder from Montanaway in an aptly cast and ably directed production promising laughs and entertainment.
KE L Martin head of Safety Education at New Mexico State Teachers College visited Lordaburg High School to demonstrate driver testing equipment. Students, including seniors, tested perception judgment through mirrors, headlight flare, reaction time, traffic laws, and steadiness of nerve with a wire light system. The program, designed by the American Auto Association, aims to reduce future accidents by increasing safety awareness among young drivers.
Miss Effie Jump nurse at Lordsburg Hospital and contractor Jack Heather wed at the Methodist parsonage with Rev. Joe Emanuel officiating. Witnesses were Mrs. Joe Emanuel and Walter Mullins. They postponed their honeymoon to finish important contracts and reside on South Main Street with congratulating friends.

The Texaco regular spring meeting gathered eight Lordsburg representatives at the Mission Cafe in Deming last night. A. R. McGarity of the Houston territorial sales office led the program after a six o'clock dinner. Attendees included L. B. Robinson and others.

The Mons Club led by President Mayfield heard guest artist Mia ma Ross perform two solos with accompanist Jimmy Summer. Lordsburg Chamber invites Lordaburg officials to a half hour Good Neighbor program on KROD with dates TBA, plus a Pasadena Junior College tour of Southern New Mexico on April 7.
Mrs. Clara Kimblys and Miss Ruthe Fisher trick Nellie Jo Swaggart on March 28 by hosting a surprise party she believed was for her sewing club. Guests included Freida Coffey Florence Gwartney Mildred Hill Mary Louise Noce Mrs. Gordon Willis Gladys Gene Malone and the two hostesses with the honoree.
President Tom Clayton announces a statewide executive committee of twenty three members. Members include George Cureton Tom Clayton Jr Bartley McDonald Tyrone Walter McGrath John McMillan Leo McKinney Walter Hightower and Hub Estes with H R B Rodgers added as State Land Commissioner. First meeting planned in June at Lordsburg with date to be announced.
T A Kerr is in Lordsburg Hospital for medical treatment and observation and it will be pleasing to his many friends to know that he is improving in a very satisfactory manner.
