State Meeting of BK and P Women Federation Convention

The National Federation of Business and Professional Women plans a three state convention over the next three months to discuss economic freedom for women and discrimination amid a push for H.R. 5061. County Agent Brown describes Texas root rot a common soil borne disease in the southwest that attacks roots and is hard to control. Preventatives include acidifying soil with manure and sulphur. for small trees apply 3–4 pounds of sulphur worked into the soil. If infection occurs, excavate roots, drown in copper sulphate solution, remove badly diseased roots, sun-dry the exposed portion, then reapply soil and manure or more sulphur for large trees.

R L Bowen president of Community Public Service Co explains the franchise terms to Lordsburg mayor and board. He interprets section 9 as allowing village to negotiate with the United States Government for hydro electric power and to receive a bona fide offer, with 60 days notice to the company and 30 days to propose a new rate structure, while the town board may accept or reject. Bus Driver Higgins Bound Over After Illicit Route to California

Following Higgins arrest in Judge Marsalis’ court, the six passenger sedan operator faced charges for bootlegging and violating New Mexico port of entry and drunk driving laws. Lions Hear Plans for Aviation Club and Broadway Motorcade

Lion President Shellberg led a noon meeting with two guest speakers Baron Auriemma and W T Piper who seeks to form a ten to twelve member aviation club in Lordsburg with free training for members. A Broadway of America motorcade is set for April 8 and a committee including Lions Jeffus Palm and Holt will arrange entertainment.
