Lawrence Johnson Held For Trials in District Court

Lawrence Johnson known as Six Shooter Johnson, 37, a former Diamond A ranch hand and current Will Linn goat herder, is held without bail for the alleged fatal shooting of Feliciano Placencia on the Holland Bass ranch Sunday afternoon. A coroner's jury ruled Placencia died of a gunshot wound. Johnson faces trial in district court. witnesses including Sheriff Cavin, Deputy Conner, and Dr. Parham testified.

Kerrs Visit Lordsburg After Santa Fe Appointment

Mr and Mrs Earle Kerr visit Lordsburg for a Saturday afternoon over Sunday stay. Earle holds a high appointed position in Santa Fe under the Governor with a staff under him. Jack Kerr arrived from Lordsburg on the 10 30 train and would have brought a greeting delegation if his friends had known. The Kerrs recently went to El Paso for Mrs Kerrs sister in law Miss Tase Hardin who underwent a serious emergency operation.

Gas Men Plan 24 Mile Pipeline Start in Hidalgo County

A L Porkes Jr and J F Schalfer of the El Paso Natural Gas company arrived to establish a headquarters for a 24 mile gas line from the main Hidalgo county line. They surveyed offices with Secretary Hal and chose a building, with F B Daniel of SBP arranging a loading site near the old A and N M depot. The project will require about 10 acres to store pipe and will begin once right of way work is finished.

Larceny Allegations Brought in Virden CCC Case

Agri Connor and Eugene Olea were brought before Judge Marsalis on a larceny charge involving government property valued at $20 or more. Commander Captain BE H Bruss of the Virden CCC camp filed the complaint. Both youths, one a former COC camp member, were bound over to the District Court in $300 each, but bonds were not posted.

Miss Kent is salutatorian and May Queen 1935, graduated from New Mexico State College in home economics in 1936. Giant New Power Plant for Community Public Service Co

A Liberal representative tours the Model Community Public Service plant near the old power plant. Completed May 1, the 100 by 65 by 56 foot fireproof structure houses two 1260 HP Westinghouse turbines and two 2600 HP boilers with future plans for a 6160 HP turbine. It will supply Lordsburg and mining interests and part of Silver City, with oil storage, a 1000 KVA transformer setup, and a 140 by 90 foot spray pond feeding condensers.

Lordsburg Leads in Good Fire Fighting Equipment

The Lordsburg City Council purchased a new International Harvester fire engine. Engineer C. B. Teel drove it from Galesburg Illinois and demonstrated it at the City Hall. Alan Koff called it the first of its high type in the southwest and said it saved the city at least a thousand dollars. Next week Liberal explains why this engine is the finest of its kind.
