Commissioners Pledge Indigent Care Funding for Gila Regional
Hidalgo County commissioners plan to add 25 000 to 30 000 dollars to next year’s budget to cover indigent payments to Gila Regional Hospital in Silver City. Gila Regional representative Ron McArthur urged an 18 percent indigent tax to create Hidalgo Indigent Fund for bad debts from noncollectable accounts, noting 12 percent of patients come from Hidalgo County totaling 1.6 million dollars in revenue with 236 496 dollars written off last year.
