Mr Bryant of Los Angeles organized a United Boys Brigade unit in Lordsburg Sunday. It will be Company C of the Second Regiment with Harry Gibson as Captain and Claude McMahon as Lieutenant. A permanent organization will form early July. tobacco use disqualifies boys.

Last week’s tent meetings under the Good Templars drew crowds each night. Twelve applications for Lordsburg lodge membership were received on the final night, with 20 to 25 expected to join June 7. The lodge, organized three months ago, neared seventy five members as the District Lodge met with twenty delegates and awarded a banner for largest membership gain.

A jolly social at the Christian Endeavor Society of the M. E. Church hosted by S. O. Hamilton on Friday night drew about forty members. Attendees dressed as hard times and refreshments included mush and milk.
A group led by J. J. McClellan H. E. Belcher W. T. Hedrick George Weber and George Jones spent Tuesday afternoon shooting blue rock clay pigeons. Some good scores were made but no records were broken and several participants suffered sore shoulders.
Rev Thomas Broad informs the LEADER that the Brethren church will add a rear addition for classrooms rather than a basement. Construction is likely to begin at once.
W. Doughty and his family traveled to Los Angeles for a weekend visit, spending Saturday and Sunday in the city.
Five young women riding to Charter Oak narrowly escaped death when their car failed on a Santa Fe crossing between Lordsburg and North Pomona. Miss Anna McCutcheon, of Charter Oak, was pinned in the wreck and dragged by a locomotive, later taken to Pomona Valley hospital in critical condition but reported improving.
About a baker's dozen of members toured the LEADER office on a busy inspection day. They attended a surprise party for Rutie Sheldon, met candidates for officer roles, socialized over ice cream, and learned to set type before heading to a college game.
The college marked its first athletics attention this year with croquet, tennis, track events, and baseball during Field Day. Ray Ebersole won first prize in the oratorical contest, with Chalmer Shaver second and J L Miller third, as the senior class program and a large Music and Expression Recital drew crowds. The resignation of W F England as president was accepted and Edward Frantz elected president, with J P Dickey as vice president.
W. C. Doughty represented the Lordsburg City schools at a Los Angeles County Trustees convention. A resolution urged securing for the county the university Mrs. Harriman intends to establish in memory of her husband.
Contractor C. H. Procter awarded the contract to build a six room cottage for Miss Grace Rosenbloom on West Fifth Street near D Street. The foundation has begun as the project proceeds.
Mrs H W Leach and her daughter Charlotte depart for an extended trip to the East. Mrs Leach plans to visit her old home in Harbor Beach Michigan before returning.
Mr and Mrs J M Johnson entertain Miss Ora Hinkle of Los Angeles at their home in a social visit noted in local society circles.
Officers of the Southern Pacific R R visited Lordsburg pastors to unite churches for a large picnic between San Bernardino and Colton. Aimed at a joyous event with amusement, boating, and meals, tickets for locals are set at 80 cents for adults and 40 cents for children under twelve. outsiders pay more up to a dollar round trip.
The Children’s Home of Lordsburg expands with over forty children housed at times. Miss Rice leads as superintendent and Dr. B F Johnson joins as physician and surgeon offering free services to the home.
The Queen Esther Circle meets at the M E parsonage with plans to host the Woman's Home Missionary Society event. Mrs Miller, Conference Superintendent, will speak around June 23, and June 15 features the Girls of the Foreign Missionary Society as guests of honor.

Rev H F Kimura the Japanese evangelist who visited last November will preach at the Methodist church Thursday Friday and Saturday evenings at 745. The meetings follow his prior visit and are open to all. A telegram from St Louis dated May 26 requests scheduling from May 31 to June 3 with Los Angeles meetings to follow and a goal of saving a thousand souls. prayers are urged.
