Sea Bright residents push temporary bulkhead plan

Citizens in Sea Bright raise funds to erect a 900 foot temporary bulkhead to protect oceanfront property after last winter’s storm. A committee led by George M Davison and Raymond Farry will oversee construction as legal and regulatory support is sought from Riparian Commissioners and state lawmakers.

Prison, not fines, for price boosters

Trenton reports prison sentences, not fines, will be the punishment for price boosting offenses in New Jersey. U S district attorney J Warren Davis said the maximum penalty applies to all offenders as Philip Harris from Washington joins the probe to aid investigations across municipalities ahead of the federal grand jury convening September 30.

Hackmen Fined For Violations At Central Station

Bernard Press Charles Fisher Jack Clayton and William Clayton were before Recorder Arrowsmith charged with hack driver rule violations. The two former fined 2 each and the latter two 1 each. A separate case saw Wilfred White Harry Holloway Edward Sykes Firm West William Miles and James West charged by William Colton for stone throwing and water flooding Colton’s home though the boys denied it. The case postponed to October 10 with orders to stay away from the Colton barn. The last City Republican Executive Committee meeting at City Hall discussed routine business and the coming campaign led by Harry Truax.

No License for 12 Year Old at New York Marriage Bureau

Rocco Molino and Stella La Brano of Long Branch sought a license at New York City Hall. Molino claimed the girl was 12, saying she was adopted after her parents died. The girl was sent to the Children's Society. Molino was discharged by Magistrate Ten Eyck.

Railroad Must Explain Changes On Winter Schedule

Shoplifting Ring Brought to Light and Arrests Made

A late afternoon incident at a market district led to the arrest of two girls tied to a shoplifting ring. Officers recovered stolen items including shirts, baby shoes, soap and hair ornaments from a hut and at the girls’ home. Jacob Steinbach and Josaph Stein were named as owners of some goods. others remained unverified. Clarence G. Van Nete, counsel, saw the defendants waive hearings and be held on bonds of 300 dollars and 200 dollars respectively as witnesses.
