County Freeholders Inspect Bridges at Red Bank and Nearby

Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders led by Director Corlies, with Daly, Thompson, Wyckoff and Jeffries, inspected two bridges and discussed a third. They visited Red Bank’s Throckmorton Gully bridge in poor condition and considered a fish factory area bridge project. Residents urged rebuilding or substantial repairs and a plan to improve the Mighiinda draw. A dinner followed at Price's Hotel Pleasure Bay.

County Churches Form Federation In Monmouth County

An important religious conference gathers pastors laymen and women in Monmouth County to form a federation of Protestant churches totaling 122 with about 100 represented. The meeting at Simpson Memorial M E Church aims to elect officers and set up permanent organization. Delegates include Rev Alfonso Dare Rev W W Edge Samuel H Jones and others. Luncheon served by Ladies Aid Society. Borden Company contributed cream for the meal. John Smith a former Edward Beekman employee died at Bright’s Hewaa hospital aged about 40. funeral at Harry Gofay’s with burial at Mount Olivet cemetery. No survivors listed.

Accused Men Give Bail On City Case Hearings

Benjamin DuBois Johnson, long-time custodian at City Hall, is praised on his 71st birthday. Born in Biye Ball Howell, he moved to Long Branch in 1865 and plans to lease a half-century lease. Fire Destroyed Building in Rumson Incendiary Blaze Totals Loss

A second fire at Veronica Pannaci's Navesink Avenue property in Rumson, believed incendiary, left the ice house a total loss and burned a barn carriage and chicken house of R Romaine earlier. The August 28 blaze caused $5,000 in damage with no insurance. Water was scarce and the icehouse adjoining the previous burn was reduced to ashes, loss $2,000. Two men from St. Augustine, Fla report staying all winter. Also notes include Pleasure Bay seabass catch at the drawbridge and Edmund B. Osborne and George L. Record set to speak in town with H. C. Rehm presiding.

Opinion affirms motor fines flow to department

State House in Trenton Sept 18 Attorney General Wilson rules the Motor Vehicle Department can claim money collected by a magistrate from township violations of motor vehicle laws. The case centers on Justice of the Peace Searing Lakewood who fined violators and turned about 250 dollars to the township council. The council had an ordinance on speed laws and seeks all penalties, while Lippincott says fines should go to the Motor Vehicle Department or the motor vehicle act fund. He suggests the ordinance may be invalid and notes he is entitled to recover the funds.

Currency Bill Passes House 286 to 94 in Historic Vote

Washington September 18 The House approved the Administration Currency Bill by 286 to 94 after a week of debate. The measure will go to the Senate in its original form with one Republican amendment from Berkey Ohio. President Wilson expected to nominate Felk of Missouri to head the State Department. Music Club Organized Here in Long Branch

A new music club named The Music Club of Some Branch was organized in Long Branch with about fifteen charter members. Mr Carre of New York directed the program at the Gano home and suggestions were made for expanding to about sixty mixed voices and ongoing training for members. Christopher Gregory was elected president with Mrs F P Wilcox as vice president and Miss Gertrude Seibert as secretary, Mrs Helen M Gano as treasurer.

Washington September 13 a Red Cross appeal seeks funds to aid Balkan war victims. In New York on September 12 authorities say a third arrest may follow the Anna Aumueller murder and Schmidt counterfeiting case. Woman Dies After Eleven Days as Patient at Local Hospital

A woman died at two o'clock this morning after a hospital stay of eleven days. The body will be shipped to Brooklyn by Funeral Director Harry J. Bodine. The deceased is survived by five children.
