A Labor Day sports gathering in Oakhurst drew a good crowd with Elberon, Long Branch, West Long Branch and Asbury Park participants. James Dean won the 10 mile bicycle race for $30, while Henry Huhn and Warren Beebe earned top prizes in 5 and 3 mile events. Local youths Harold Van Note and James Layton won two prizes each, with Oliver Norton taking second in the 2 mile Truce. Mrs Spencer to wed Sept 27 at the Hollywood Hotel in a private ceremony for Muriel V Spencer and A Lincoln Stadler of New York. Guests will travel by special train and stay overnight. The Hollywood Hotel opens for the wedding with a ballroom dinner and dance following.
